Rose-Hulman Baseball Falls at Franklin

225Kissell RunTERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Franklin College scored three times in the first and eighth innings to pull away from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and earn a 10-2 victory in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball action on Tuesday afternoon.

Taylor Glaze held the Fightin' Engineers to three hits over eight innings with seven strikeouts to lead the pitching effort.  Jameson Brock led the offense with a 5-5 effort and three runs scored.

Freshman Zach Trusk (Plainfield, Ill./North) slapped two hits, including a double, with one RBI to lead the Rose-Hulman performance.  Senior Hank Akard (Indianapolis/Ben Davis) added a double and scored, while sophomore Caleb Kissel (Plainfield, Ill./North) also scored in the top of the first.

Rose-Hulman jumped out to a 2-0 lead, before Franklin responded with three runs in the first inning and single tallies in the second, fourth, fifth and sixth innings to move to 8-7 in conference play.

Rose-Hulman stands 16-9 on the season and 11-4 in conference play, while Franklin has a 17-12 record and an 8-7 league record.  The Fightin' Engineers host Wabash College in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
