TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Washington University scored seven runs in the second inning and relied on strong pitching to earn a 14-1 victory over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in non-conference baseball action on Wednesday night.
Max Golembo led the Bears offense with three hits, four runs scored and two RBIs. Kevin Paule added three hits, including a home run, and Kyle Billig pitched in with a home run and three RBIs for Washington University.
Freshman Evan Witsken (Granger/South Bend St. Joseph), junior Hank Akard (Indianapolis/Ben Davis) and freshman Warren Whithaus (Robinson, Ill.) led the Rose-Hulman offensive effort with two hits each. Freshman Donnie Waters (Franklin) added an RBI double.
Washington University improved to 23-15 overall, while Rose-Hulman dropped to 15-21. The Fightin' Engineers return to action with a three-game Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference series at Earlham College starting with a single game Saturday at 5 p.m.
