WINTER HAVEN, FLA. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology capped its Florida trip with a 5-3 record after defeating the College of New Jersey 7-2 on Saturday.

Senior Jim Bob Schuler (Salem/North Harrison) tossed eight strong innings to lead Rose-Hulman to the victory.  Schuler allowed one earned run and scattered eight hits with three strikeouts to move to 2-0 on the trip.

Offensively, sophomore Hank Akard (Indianapolis/Ben Davis) led the Engineers from the leadoff spot.  Akard had four hits, including two doubles, with two runs scored and one stolen base.

Sophomore Donald Stopka (Grayslake, Ill./Carmel Catholic) added three singles, scored once andhad one RBI.  Sophomore Andrew Benitez (Mililani, Hawaii) added two singles and one RBI.

Rose-Hulman returns to action with its home opener against Greenville College on Thursday at 5:30 at Art Nehf Field.
