AUBURNDALE, FLA. -- Rose-Hulman
Institute of Technology dropped the final game of its annual trip
to Florida 8-0 to Aurora University on Saturday
morning.
The Fightin' Engineers completed their Florida Trip with a 5-4 overall record.
Aurora scored four runs in the first inning with three unearned runs to take the early lead, then held off a pair of potential run scoring rallies by Rose-Hulman to capture the win.
Senior Neil Krueger (Beach Park, Ill./Zion-Benton) (pictured) led the Rose-Hulman offense with two singles.
Other Engineers with hits included senior B.J. Zobrist (Eureka, Ill.), sophomore Bobby Newman (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg), senior Michael Kovacs (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller) and junior Will Burchett (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic).
Drew Gay picked up the victory for Aurora with seven shutout innings and nine strikeouts. Rose-Hulman returns to action with its home opener against Alma College on March 13 at noon.
