Issues in Business during Monday Speech
Rose-Hulman

Robert Pease, president of Shell Trading (US) Company, vice president of Shell Trading’s global operations and a Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology alumnus, will discuss diversity issues in international business on Monday, Jan. 8, at 4:30 p.m. in the presentation room (M-137) of the John Myers Center for Technological Research with Industry on the Rose-Hulman campus.

Robert Pease

The topic of Pease’s presentation is "Working in Global Markets -– the Value of Difference." The event, organized by Rose-Hulman’s Diversity Council, is free and open to the public.

Pease, who grew up about a mile from Rose-Hulman, is responsible for Shell’s oil trading business in the U.S., as well as for the majority of Shell’s trading operations worldwide. He focuses on how Shell Trading (US) Company (STUSCO) conducts its business and sets international objectives in an organization where employees manage the worldwide movement of oil and natural gas. He oversees more than 350 operations employees in about a dozen offices throughout the world, as well as approximately 500 employees of STUSCO, whose offices are mainly located in Houston.

A 1980 Rose-Hulman chemical engineering graduate, Pease’s career has spanned the U.S. oil industry downstream business and provided him a broad global perspective from his years in supply and trading, and his positions in three joint venture companies. His career started in refining with Texaco, where Pease served in numerous refining, technical support, economics, supply and trading positions.

In 1989, Pease joined Star Enterprise, the Saudi Refining Inc./Texaco downstream joint venture in the U.S., where he held several managerial roles in supply and trading, and in refining. He joined Equilon Enterprises LLC, the Shell/Texaco U.S. downstream joint venture, in 1998 as head of commercial marketing. From 2002-2004, he served as vice president of supply for Motiva Enterprises LLC, the Saudi Refining Inc./Shell downstream joint venture, and in 2004 Pease assumed his current role in Shell Trading (US) Company and the Shell Trading global network.

Pease still values his Vigo County roots and connection to Rose-Hulman. He is a member of the Rose-Hulman Alumni Association’s advisory board. His wife, Terri, attended St. Mary-of-the-Woods College.
