Rose-Hulman President Gerald Jakubowski had the opportunity to learn about the technical contributions of Rose-Hulman alumni employed at the Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center during an all day visit Jan. 30.

Jakubowski's tour of the southern Indiana naval facility was coordinated by Rose-Hulman alumnus Greg Reece ('89), director of joint special missions. Jakubowski and five other campus officials were briefed by Capt. Mark Welsh, Crane commanding officer. The Rose-Hulman contingent heard presentations by alumni and other Crane staff working in five different engineering and scientific areas at Crane.

Jakubowski provided a campus update during a luncheon attended by 51 Rose-Hulman alumni and Crane officials.

In addition to learning about technical developments at Crane, the Rose-Hulman group discussed expanding the educational partnership between Crane and Rose-Hulman.

Campus representatives participating in the Crane visit with Jakubowski were Art Western, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the faculty; physics and optical engineering professors Galen Duree and Azad Siahmakoun; Brian Dyer, director of alumni affairs; Kaleena Dale, assistant director of alumni affairs; and David Piker, vice president for public relations.
