Some students are not in a position
to take AP courses or college courses. Many, however, will have
received excellent preparation from their high school. Also,
students who did not earn a score of "4" or higher on the AP
examinations may be able to achieve a higher level of expertise
with additional study during the summer.
If a student believes that they
have a particular strength in a subject area, placement
examinations can be arranged by appointment with the appropriate
chairperson. On the basis of the examination results, students may
be offered credit or advanced standing.
A student who receives Credit by Examination for a course may use
it to satisfy graduation requirements and may enroll in more
advanced courses. Note that Credit by Examination does not carry a
grade and hence does not influence the student's GPA. |
