ASCE Student Chapter News
The fall quarter was a busy and successful one for the Cecil T. Lobo ASCE Student Chapter. Even before the quarter began, the chapter learned it was once again selected as a finalist for the ASCE's Robert Ridgway Award. Kicking off the fall, the chapter welcomed Dr. Michael Robinson as the new chapter advisor. Meanwhile, President Molly Rice and her team of officers dove into the fall quarter with many activities. In addition to regularly scheduled meetings, the student chapter hosted a number of field trips, including an on-campus visit to the site of the new residence hall/apartments northwest of Speed Lake dam. Off-campus field trips included a visit to Benchmark Steel and a bore-and-jack project in Terre Haute. Service activities included construction of three wheelchair ramps, an adopt-a-highway day and bikes for tykes. The fall quarter transitioned into a busy start of winter quarter, with the ASCE Banquet in conjunction with the Board of Advisors meeting on November 30, and hosting the first day of the three-day HEC-RAS workshop on December 7. As the first 3-1/2 weeks of winter quarter wound into Christmas break, the chapter held elections for new officers and wrapping up our annual Terre Haute Tribune-Star Christmas Basket collection from the Rose-Hulman campus. The current officers are also looking forward to completion of this year's annual report in the hopes of another successful showing for the Robert Ridgway Award.
