Environmental Engineering
The Environmental
Engineering minor can assist those in Civil and Chemical
Engineering. The Environmental Engineering Area minor includes 3
required courses and 3 elective courses. The required courses
provide an introduction to the overall field of environmental
engineering. The elective courses allow the student to tailor the
minor to their academic majors and special interests.
The graduate environmental and water resources engineering
program is housed in the Department of Civil Engineering, but
includes faculty across the Institute. Our approach to graduate
education is to prepare students for practice-oriented
environmental and water resources engineering.
A professional degree is designed to consider the needs of the
practicing engineer. As such, many courses include hands-on design
projects and laboratory exercises that simulate the workplace.
Students work on a project for a real client (often a non-profit
entity) in a structured projects course as opposed to a thesis.
For information on courses and suggested curriculum, see the undergraduate course catalog.
