National Coming Out Day
October 9th, 2007*
A national day for gay individuals to come out of the closet
with their sexuality, and for straight allies to announce their support. Unity
members will be handing out "Gay? OK by me." signs.
World AIDS Day
December 1st, 2007**
An international day to raise awareness about the dangers of
HIV/AIDS and how to protect against it. Unity members will be handing out
informational fliers about HIV/AIDS.
Day of Silence
Friday April 25, 2008
A day when people remain silent to bring awareness to
hate against gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals. We ask
anyone who would like to to join us in remaining silent for the day. If
you choose to do so, you will be provided with a card that you can show to
people that explains why you are remaining silent. You can also purchase a Day
of Silence shirt from Unity.
*October 11th is the actual National Coming Out Day, but this is during Rose-Hulman's fall break.
**December 1st is a Saturday. We will be picking a day near this when we will have our event.
