Unity is Rose-Hulman’s official Gay-Straight Alliance organization.  We plan events to raise awareness about and promote tolerance of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender people and issues.  We also provide a safe place for people to be who they are, when they otherwise might feel obligated to hide it.  While our primary focus is on issues of sexual orientation, this belief extends to minority groups of all kinds.

Our goal is to send a message: it is OK to be who you are.  Statistics have shown that it is likely one out of every ten people is gay, but the many of these are deep in the closet because they fear what the people around them will think about it.  Unity wants to change this, but we need your help to do it.

Unity is not an exclusive club of gay and lesbian members!  The straight allies of GBLT people are critical for our mission to be a success.  Many gay people rely on the support that they receive from their straight friends and family to get through the often difficult process of coming out and dealing with the emotions involved with being gay.

Weekly Meetings
Unity meets every week during the school year, except during finals week and during breaks. Meetings are on Thursdays at 7:30 in the Reading Room of the Hulman Memorial Union. Anyone is welcome to attend.
