Facility Regulations

General

A. All users may use a locker on a temporary basis while using the facility.  Users must bring their own locks and remove the locks when leaving the facility.

B. Permanent locker assignments for faculty and staff will be in the faculty/staff locker room and can be made in the main office of the SRC or by calling 877-8054.  If no more lockers are available in the faculty/staff locker room, the overflow may be assigned to the intramural locker rooms.

C. No smoking or chewing tobacco will be permitted within or around the Sports and Recreation Center at any time.  No alcoholic drinks are permitted in the facility.

D. No food, drinks, or chewing gum are permitted within the facility, beyond the main lobby located by the front desk. Consumption of food and drinks within the facility from vending operations during varsity athletic events and special occasions will be permitted.  Drinks in a plastic, non-breakable and spill-resistant bottle are permitted near the exercise areas.  Glass bottles are prohibited.

E. Bicycles, rollerblades, and skateboards are prohibited at all facilities.

F. Shirts and shoes are to be worn at all times.  Open toed shoes are not allowed in the weight room.  Eyeguards are recommended.  Swimming suits are required in the pool area.  Non-marking shoes are to be worn on the courts.

G. The SRC is not responsible for personal items.

H. All injuries are to be immediately reported to the Sports and Recreation Center staff.

I.  The Sports and Recration Center is not responsible for injuries obtained through participation in athletic activities.  Those participating in recreational activities and programs do so at their own risk and are encouraged to be examined by a physician prior to participation.

J. Emergency telephone number is 8-911 for Campus Security and 9-911 for Terre Haute Emergency.

K. The Facility Manager or Campus Security may close the Sports and Recreation Center at any time for health and safety concerns.

L. Equipment Use - Sports Equipment may be checked out at the Sports and Recreation Center Front Desk or Main Office, depending on the type of equipment.  Users must show a valid ID card. All equipment must be returned the same day. The replacement cost of any item checked out and not returned or damaged will be charged to the user.


Courts

A. Individuals using the facility are required to wear tennis shoes or non-marking shoes.

B. Individuals with bare feet are not allowed on any court areas.

C. Eye guards are highly recommended at all times while playing racquetball. Eye guards are available in the main office of the Sports and Recreation Center.


Pool/Diving Area

All pool policies have been developed in accordance with the Indiana State Department of Health Swimming and Wading Pool Codes 410 IAC 6-2.

A. Use of the pool is not permitted without a lifeguard present. (410 IAC 6-2-11)

B. Entrance to the pool is permitted only through locker rooms. Doors located within the aquatic area are for emergency exiting only.

C. Horseplay, rough housing, profanity, spitting, or other inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated.

D. No food or drinks are permitted on the deck of the pool. Spectators watching varsity competitions or special events are permitted food and drinks in the viewing area only.

E. Balls, innertubes, water wings, toys, inflatable supports, and artificial swimming aids are allowed in the pool only at the discretion of the lifeguard on duty.

F. Swimming suits must be worn in the pool; clothing other than swimming suits is not permitted.

G. Swimmers are responsible for providing their own towels.

H. No shoes other than flip-flops swim shoes or shower shoes.

I. Individuals with open sores or lacerations are not permitted to use the pool.

J. Only one person is permitted on the diving board at a time.

K. All dives or jumps must be straight off of the board.

L. Diving is not permitted until previous diver clears the area.

M. Divers are required to swim to the nearest side after completing a dive.

N. All injuries should be reported to the lifeguard immediately.

O. The Sports and Recreation Center Staff is not responsible for injuries or accidents.

P. The lifeguard in charge has the right to dismiss individuals violating pool rules. Lifeguards on duty have the authority to prohibit diving.
