Who We Are
Our History
The College Republicans (CR's) are the nation's largest
and oldest Republican student organization. Founded more
than one hundred years ago on the campus of the
University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, College Republicans
have played a vital role in recruiting, educating and
involving many young students each year in the Republican
party.
The effectiveness of CR's as grassroots leaders has
earned the respect, admiration and support of such
prominent Republicans as Ronald Reagan, Bob Dole, Jack
Kemp, George Bush, Dan Quayle, Newt Gingrich, Haley
Barbour and Evelyn McPhail.
Our Mission
The Rose-Hulman College Republicans exists as a chapter
on the campus of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in
order to promote the conservative principles of the
Republican party, to recruit new members for the
Republican party, to aid in the campaigns and elections
of Republican candidates on the local, state, and
national level, and to help prepare Republican students
for future party and community service through the
development of political skills and leadership abilities.
Why Wait?
If you are tired of the liberals telling you what to
think, then join thousands of students nationwide who are
standing up for what is right and how we properly fix

Issues
Balancing the Budget
America must pass and live by a balanced budget
amendment. A balanced budget will provide lower interest
reates, more jobs, increased earnings and a higher
standard of living for all Americans.
Lower Taxes
We must reduce income taxes and eliminate the tax on
capital gains. Lower taxes allow individuals to earn more
and keep more of what they earn. With lower taxes,
Americans have a better shot at realizing the American
Dream.
Smaller and Smarter Government
The federal government must have a smaller role in our
daily lives. The College Republicans support moving
government out of Washington and closer to the people.
"The powers not delegated to the United States...are
reserved to the States respectively, or to the
people."
Entitlement Reform
The welfare state is a corrupt and immoral system.
College Republicans support the full pase out of federal
welfare programs, including privatizing Social Sercrity,
thus truly ending welfare as we know it.
"Welfare's purpose should be to eliminate, as far as possible, the need for its own existence." - Ronald Reagan
A Tough Stance on Crime
Most young Americans either know someone or have
themselves been a victim of crime. The only way to
curtail crime is to enforce the death penalty swiftly and
appoint court justices who understand the rights of
victims and who do not favor the rights of criminals.
Human Rights
The unborn child is a human life. The unborn child has a
Constitutional right to pursue the American Dream and
abortion simply denies individuals life, liberty and the
pursuit of happiness
Why Join?
Leadership Training
The College Republicans give you the opportunity to gain valuable leadership experience at every level. Through participation in your campus chapter you'll learn about fundraising, how to organize and plan events, how to deal with media, and most importantly how to be an effective political activist.
Campaign Experience
The College Republicans offer many opportunities to play an active role in Republican campaigns at the local, state and national level. Through College Republicans on your campus, you can make a difference on a GOP Congressional or Senate race and even the race for President of the United States.
Learn the Issues
In 1996, Newt Gingrich challenged the CR's to be the leading intellectual force on campus. That's certain to be an uphill battle against the many 60's radicals who inhabit the political science, history, and English departments at your school. Join CR's to learn the truth and spread that message to your friends and professors.
Get Out the Vote
The College Republicans are famous for our ability to turn young voters out to the polls. There have been winning campaigns in every state that attribute their victory to the College Republicans. In addition to organizing massive absentee ballot initiatives, CR's work phone banks and the polls to ensure Republican victories on election day.
Am I a Republican?
I am a Republican because:
I believe the strength of our nation lies with the
individual and that each person's dignity, freedom,
ability and responsibility must be honored.
I believe in equal rights, equal justice and equal
opportunity for all, regardless of race, creed, sex, age
or disability.
I believe that free enterprise and the encouragement of
individual initiative have brought this nation
opportunity, ecomomic growth and prosperity.
I believe government must practice fiscal responsibility
and allow individuals to keep more of the money they
earn.
I believe the proper role of government is to provide for
the people only those critical functions that cannot be
performed by individuals or private organizations and
that the best government is that which governs least.
I belive the most effective, responsible and responsive
government is government closest ot the people.
I believe Americans must retain the principles that have
made us strong while developing new and innovative ideas
to meet the challenges of changing times.
I believe Americans value and should preserve our
national strength and pride while working to extend
peace, freedom and human rights throughout the world.
Finally, I believe the Republican Party is the best
vehicle for translating these ideals into positive and
successful principles of government.
