Windows Terminal Services
IAIT maintains three identical Windows 2003 servers running Terminal Services. The purpose of these servers is to host software that, due to licensing restrictions, cannot be given to students or faculty for installation on their machines. Available software includes Aspen Plus 2004.1, Aspen Properties 2004.1, Maple 11, MathCAD 13, Matlab R2006a, Minitab 14, Labview 8.2, SecureCRT, and SecureFX. These servers are available both on and off campus.
To access Windows Terminal Services
- Launch the Remote Desktop Client. It is located under Start -> All Programs -> Accessories or Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Communications.
- Type the name of the server you wish use (ts1.rose-hulman.edu, ts2.rose-hulman.edu or ts3.rose-hulman.edu) and click Connect.
- Login with your Kerberos username and password. Make sure you select ROSE-HULMAN in the Log on to field.
You are not allowed to save files anywhere on these machines. It is recommended that you save files to the Desktop and then transfer them to either AFS or DFS. By default your DFS home directory is mapped to My Computer. To transfer documents to AFS you can use SecureFX.
If you need to print a file from a terminal server on a printer that is not installed, you can install it by going to Start -> Run, then typing "\\print". Simply double-click on the printer of choice and wait for it to install. You can now print to this printer.
To logoff, click Start and Log Off username. Your desktop settings will not be saved between sessions.
