Locating your MAC Address
To access Rose-Hulman's network, your network card must be registered with IAIT. If you cannot use the Automatic Registration tool or your device does not have a web browser you must submit your MAC address to IAIT Help Desk.
A MAC Address is a 12 digit combination of numbers and certain letters (A-F). It is split into groups of two letters and each group is separated by spaces, dashes, or colons. An example of this would be 12:34:56:78:9A:BC.
Windows 2000/XP/Vista
- Go to Start -> Run, type in cmd and hit Enter. If the Run command is not available, press the Windows key to activate the command line box.
- A command prompt should pop-up. In it type ipconfig /all and hit Enter.
- Find the connection you wish to register. It should start with either Ethernet adaptor or Wireless adaptor depending on which type of device you are registering.
- Check the description to make sure the Description of the device seems reasonable to what you are trying to register. If it says Microsoft Loopback Adaptor you have the wrong device.
