Laptop Theft
If your laptop is stolen, the first thing you need to do is inform Campus Security or the local police department so that a police report can be filed. After that, see Erik Johnson in Crapo G-131 so that you can fill out an insurance claim form. You will not be able to fill out the insurance claim form until after the police report has been filed and Erik has a copy of it. Filling out a false insurance claim is a felony. Your machine will be replaced in approximately 2 days with a machine of equal value. You will be responsible for the $750.00 insurance deductible.
To avoid laptop theft, don't leave your laptop alone and unprotected. Bring the laptop with you when you leave your room unlocked. Use the lockers in the union and lock your laptop inside during meals. If your laptop is in your car, lock it.
