The American Chemical Society is going to be phasing out
SciFinder Scholar and switching to a web version of SciFinder. The client
software that we currently use will no longer work after March 20, 2009. Until
then, we will have access to both the client version that we now use as well as
the new web version. After March 20th, only the web version will
work. We will still be limited to one simultaneous user. The name will simply
be SciFinder and not SciFinder Scholar. Corporate and academic institutions
will now be using the same product.
To use the web version, you must first register and create
a user name and password. This must be done on campus (where you will have a
Rose-Hulman IP address) and you must register with a Rose-Hulman email address [e.g
bernier@rose-hulman.edu ]. Once you register, you will need to log in
and have a Rose-Hulman IP address. Right now that can be gained by being on
campus or by being connected to the VPN for off campus access.
Step 1: Register and create a username and password at
Registration
After you complete the registration process you will be
directed to the log-in page. Please remember to logout when finished
searching to free up our “seat.”
Step 2: To log in at later times, go to:
https://scifinder.cas.org from on campus, or using
the VPN if you are off campus.
