Sports & Recreation Center

The Sports and Recreation Center is a state-of-the-art intramural and varsity athletic recreation center that contains all of the indoor facilities shown below.  The $20 million facility was constructed in 1997.

Cook Stadium

Cook Stadium at Phil Brown Field is used for the punt, pass, and kick competition. The top 3 male and the top 3 females advance to the finals and compete at halftime of a home Rose Hulman football game. Cook Stadium seats more than 2,500 fans for NCAA Division III football action.  The field also serves as a site during the Indianapolis Colts annual National Football League Training Camp (shown above). Cook Stadium is located next to the Sports and Recreation Center.

Hulbert Arena

Hulbert Arena houses Rose-Hulman's basketball and volleyball programs.  The unique floor is a Boston Celtics style parquet.  The 1,700-seat facility hosted the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Final Four in 2002 and 2003. Hulbert Arena is located in the Sports and Recreation Center. The arena is used for basketball, three point shootout, free throw competition and the dodgeball tournament.

Art Nehf Field

Rose-Hulman plays its home baseball games at Art Nehf Field.  Recent renovations include new dugouts, lights, a new press box, club seating areas, improved fencing, batting cages, bullpen areas, and an inning-by-inning scoreboard.  Art Nehf Field has served as the site for the 2005 and 2006 NCAA Division III Mideast Regional.

Rose-Hulman Softball Field

Rose-Hulman's softball field, constructed in 2000, has been called one of the top venues in the Midwest by participants at every level.  The facility contains lights, full-length dugouts, bleacher seating, complete bullpens, tarps and a press box.

William Welch Outdoor Track & Field Complex

The $1 million, state-of-the-art William Welch Track & Field Complex features a Martin ISS 1000 surface, used in the Olympic Games and NCAA championships at all levels.  The complex is located in Cook Stadium, and is used for the cross country and track and field meets.

SRC Fieldhouse

The fieldhouse is located on the lower level of the Sports and Recreation Center and is the main area of recreation and intramural activities. The fieldhouse consists of a six-lane, 200-meter track and four regulation size basketball courts. All of the surfaces in the fieldhouse are a Mondo rubber surface. The fieldhouse is used for indoor soccer, tennis, basketball, volleyball, and the home-run derby. Hosted the Division III Track National Championships in 2007 &2009.

Rose-Hulman Natatorium

The setting for aquatics at Rose-Hulman is a 25-meter, eight-lane pool with two 1-meter diving boards and one 3-meter diving board. The swimming pool serves a wide variety of activities from varsity swimming and diving to recreational exercise and the Intramural Swim Meet.

Jim Rendel Field

The men's and women's soccer teams play home day matches and Jim Rendel Field, while hosting night matches at the lighted intramural fields.  Jim Rendel Field features a press box, bleachers for fans, a scoreboard, and a top-notch surface.

Multi-Purpose Room

The Multi-Purpose Room has been used for wrestling matches, martial arts workouts, course examinations, CPR certification, the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, and many other activities.  The room has seating for 100 spectators.

RHIT Rifle Range

The 10-point rifle range is located in Cook Stadium. The range features electronic timers, excellent lighting, and a custom-built, environmentally-friendly bullet trap.  In addition, the range has a spectator/ready room and an office area for scoring.

Intramural Fields

Rose-Hulman's intramural fields are heavily used by students throughout the academic year, as nearly 75% of the college's students participate in at least one intramural activity.  The fields are also used for varsity practices, Indianapolis Colts Training Camp, home soccer night matches, flag football, sno-ball softball tournament, ultimate Frisbee, and 3-pitch softball.

Weight Room

The Weight Room contains all of the Rose-Hulman's strength training equipment. This area features Hammer Strength and Magnum exercise equipment that is flexible for beginners to highly advanced users. The cardiovascular area located in the fieldhouse is also attended by weight room staff.

Racquetball Courts

The racquetball courts are located on the south end of the Sports and Recreation Center fieldhouse. The courts are used for intramural racquetball..

Outdoor Tennis Courts

The Joy Hulbert outdoor tennis courts are located east of Cook Stadium. The outdoor tennis courts are used for intramural tennis tournaments..

Hawthorn Park is located just north of campus. It is the site for our intramural cross country meet..
