Please consider attending our fall meeting (November 5, 2005) at DePauw University. The campus is centrally located and has wonderful meeting facilities. In addition to the many fine talks we anticipate from section members, Steve Dunbar (University of Nebraska) will give an invited presentation and Andrew Ellett (DePauw University) will hold a student workshop on success in graduate school. Our Section newsletter continues to evolve. David Finn and David Rader (our newsletter editor and public information officer, respectively) have brought the newsletter completely into the 21st century by integrating it with the section website and by eliminating duplicate information. We will continue to send postcards announcing important dates and the existence of a current newsletter.

The Section is considering a change from the current two meeting format to holding a single annual meeting. Reasons for considering such a change, as well as a discussion forum, may be found at http://www.maa.org/indiana Finally, here are some things you can do to strengthen the Indiana Section:

1. Be an active participant in Section meetings. Frankly, in the current two meeting format, it is a challenge to get enough contributed talks, workshops, etc. to produce interesting meetings with varied programs. So, please consider giving a talk or volunteering to hold a workshop.
2. Make a nomination for the Section Distinguished Teaching Award or the Distinguished Service Award. With all of the fine work being accomplished by Section members, it is surprising that we often receive only one or two nominations per year for these awards. In fact, for the last two years, no Distinguished Teaching Award has been given due to lack of nominations!
