CSSE-481: WBIS: Project Proposals
- Please submit your proposals to the appropriate drop-box on
Angel. Ensure that the format is Word or PDF.
- Research and propose a project that advance the web. I am not
necessarily interested in projects that can be completed in a
quarter. In research, a lot of times we run into deadends or encounter
interesting "detours." I want you to feel free to talk to me about
those, so that we can decide how to proceed. A lot of great research
resulted from pursuing what initially looked like a detour. When it
comes to grading the projects, I will ask you to keep a journal
(format to be specified later) in which you record your efforts. A
significant portion of your grade will depend on the effort you put
into your project.
- Specifications for the written proposals are as follows.
- About one to two pages long (single spaced).
- A very good title (can be catchy)
- An introduction. It consists of a narrative description of the
problem you wish to address, an explanation of why it is an
interesting problem, a detailed description of existing work on this
problem, an explanation of how your work would extend current work,
how it is novel, and what you would expect people to learn from your
work. As part of the summary of prior work, you want to carefully
research prior work. Use the web as well as other sources and ensure
that you properly cite your scources and place sources in the
references section. The majority of the work will go into researching
prior work.
