Things that can't be done through the web
Your answers fell into roughly three categories: (i) Things that can
never be done (ii) Things that cannot be done for a while and (iii)
things that can soon be done. Some of the items listed below may fall
into different categories. I had to make a judgement call.
Category (i) can be summarize by the following remark by one of you:
You cannot be eaten by a lion. In other words, one cannot do
anything "physical" through the web. This includes the following
items:
- Get sleep
- Take a roller coaster ride
- Testing products such as a cars, food, drink
Although, someone became philosophical and argued that if one could
design a neural hook up to the brain, then, since our experience is
through the senses, one could conceivable experience some of the
afore-mentioned items, although, one still couldn't be eaten be a
lion, which I think is a good thing :)
Other things that probably fall into this category are the following:
- Design, create and publish web-pages at the speed of thought
- Erase all trace of an identity from the web, instantly
- Universal web language that everyone uses to share ideas
In category (ii), we may place such items as:
- Get a daily brief of new things added to the web (this might be an
interesting problem to tackle)
- Instant access to everything on the web
- Browser is a mental process and links and pages become thoughts
- Personal agent
- Web is entirely interactive with other users
- Design custom products
- Custom academic degrees
- Easily surf with complete autonomy
- Download emotions and experiences,
- View every publicly available place over the web
In category (iii), we may place such items as:
- Voting
- E-cash as a viable form of payment
- Paying all bills online
- Real-time audio/video
- Run medical check-ups over the web
