After completing today's reading, exercises, and the associated homework you should be able to:
Determine when a frame or machine in static equilibirum is statically indeterminate
Solve for unknown forces, stresses, strains, displacements, etc. for static systems by using equilibrium and
using Hooke's Law (the stress/strain relation)
looking at the geometry of deformation/geometric constraints, and
looking at the geometry of deformation/geometric constraints when thermal effects are present
Note: Any term in bold is a key vocabulary term that you should be able to define, regardless of whether or not that is the specific learning objective.
