Assisting students with special needs
Rose-Hulman is committed to working with students who have special needs or disabilities. Such students may be eligible to receive accommodations that provide equal access to the living and learning environment, and college activities. After being admitted to RHIT, students must establish their eligibility for accommodations by notifying the Director of Disability Services, who is located in Student Affairs, of the disability and providing sufficient documentation. Students must provide as much documentation as possible about the disability and resulting substantial limitations. Documentation less than three years old by a psychiatrist, psychologist, medical doctor, school counselor, licensed clinical social worker, or other licensed health provider is acceptable.
Typical accommodations we offer:
- extended time for testing
- distraction free environment for testing
- note takers
- enlarged texts
- use of a recording device.
These services are made available as soon as students complete and submit documentation from a licensed professional.
Students are encouraged to complete the appropriate forms provided below and submit via e-mail as early as possible in their Rose-Hulman careers.
