LEADERSHIP ADVANCEMENT PROGRAM:  Fall Break Leadership Academy: Wednesday, October 10 - Friday, October 12, 2012

  • Sponsor Amount: $3000

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology's Leadership Academy is an exciting opportunity for all students to develop their personal leadership style and equip them with tools to make a difference in society.  This two-and-a-half day intensive workshop is designed to build each participant's:

  • Confidence in their ability to lead
  • Awareness of various leadership approaches
  • Connection with leadership resources and mentors

The curriculum cultivates skills through lectures, guest speakers, case studies, team interactions, team building activities, and self-reflections and assessments.

Topics covered in the intensive workshop include: Defining leadership, self-portrait assessment, communication theory, leadership theories, team building, character development, goal setting and personal leadership development.

Approximately 40 students are selected via application to participate in the Academy each year.

ROSE-HULMAN DAY OF SERVICE: Saturday, October 20, 2012

  • SPONSORED BY BLACKBAUD

All members of the Rose-Hulman community (students, faculty, staff, and alumni) are invited to participate. Volunteers are paired with non-for-profit organizations throughout the greater Terre Haute area and asked to complete a wide variety of projects. Rose-Hulman's Day of Service provides valuable assistance to individuals and agencies in the Terre Haute community and provides members of the Rose-Hulman community the opportunity to demonstrate their citizenship, community leadership, and share their spirit of giving. Each volunteer receives a t-shirt to commemorate the event and a boxed lunch at their work site. Last year, more than 300 students, faculty, and staff participated and provided helping hands to 26 organizations throughout the Terre Haute area.

UP 'TIL DAWN: Thursday, December 13, 2012

On December 13, 2012, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology will be holding its annual fundraising event Up 'til Dawn: Unite to Fight Childhood Cancer.  During this event, running from 6:00 to 10:00 pm, students write letters to friends and family asking for donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  A student committee plans and organizes the event throughout the the fall quarter. Up 'til Dawn will take place at the student union and will include games, food, and prizes.

In January 2012, 367 students participated in the event sending 4,391 letters, and raising $20,635 for St. Jude.   For the third year in a row, Rose-Hulman raised the most money of any participating college in the state of Indiana.

STUDENT INVOLVEMENT CELEBRATION: Thursday, March 21, 2013

  • Sponsor Amount: $1500

Student Organization presidents (80+) are invited to attend this celebratory event to recognize their many outstanding contributions.  Gold Star Organizations are recognized and leadership awards are presented.

LEADERSHIP ADVANCEMENT PROGRAM: Case Study Competition: Friday, March 15 - Saturday, March 16, 2013

  • Sponsor Amount: $2000

The 4th Annual RHIT Leadership Advancement Program Case Study Competition will be held March 15-16, 2013. This is an opportunity for students to practice problem solving skills, while applying leadership theory and principles, to find a solution to a business/technology oriented case. The competition is open to any RHIT student, but space is limited to the first ten teams that register. Teams consist of three or four students. The case will be distributed to participants on Friday evening. Overnight the teams will review the scenario and develop their deliverables which will include a written plan detailing their solution and a 15 minute presentation that will be presented to a panel of judges on Saturday morning. An awards luncheon for all participants will follow the presentations. At the luncheon the winning teams will be introduced and receive prizes.

LEADERSHIP ADVANCEMENT PROGRAM: Leadership Speakers Series (DATES: TBD - one in winter quarter and one in spring quarter)

  • Sponsor Amount: $2000 per event

To support LAP's efforts in delivering a premier student leadership program, the Leadership Advancement Program is pleased to sponsor the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Leadership Speaker Series. The Speaker Series was developed with the goal of impacting students participating in the Leadership Advancement Program as well as promoting leadership development in all facets of the campus community. The individuals in the Speaker Series share their leadership stories, expertise, and advice with students, faculty, and staff.
