One Top Of Their Toes: Dancers from the Russia-based Moscow Festival Ballet will present the classics Carmen (featured above) and Romeo & Juliet as part of Rose-Hulman's Performing Arts Series.

Two legendary stories will be told through the elegance and power of classical dance when the Moscow Festival Ballet brings Bizet's Carmen, and Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet to the Hatfield Hall Theater on Tuesday, March 22, at 7:30 p.m.

Direct from Russia, the Moscow Festival Ballet will once again bring its world-class talent to Hatfield Hall, this time with a double dose of classical dance.

First, Bizet's emotional score is paired with Toni Pimble's choreography in Carmen. Set in Seville, Spain, during the early 1800s, the ballet weaves a tale of seduction and jealously before the crescendo of its heart-pounding conclusion.

"Carmen is brand new for the Moscow Festival Ballet," said Dan Tryon, Hatfield Hall's manager of performing arts. "I am really looking forward to seeing their physical interpretation to one my favorite opera scores."

Then, Shakespeare's iconic Romeo and Juliet will once again be brought to life through the art of dance. One of Shakespeare's best-known plays, the performance tells the story of the world's most infamous star-crossed lovers, whose forbidden match results in a double tragedy.

This presentation is supported by the Arts Midwest Touring Fund, a program of Arts Midwest that is funded by the National Endowment for the Arts. Additional contributions have come from the Indiana Arts Commission, Arts Illiana, the Crane Group, and General Mills Foundation.

Tickets are $35 for adults and $30 for youths. Tickets are available online at, by phone at 812-877-8544, or at the Hatfield Hall ticket desk on Tuesdays through Fridays, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and two hours before the show. Complete show information is also available at
