Conference on Undergraduate Mathematics

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology

Friday and Saturday, March 13th and 14th, 1998

Background

The goal of the Rose-Hulman Conference on Undergraduate Mathematics is to spotlight and celebrate the accomplishments and work of undergraduate mathematicians.  We typically invite 2 or 3 talks from professional mathematicians, but all other talks are contributed by undergraduate mathematics students.  Appropriate material for contributed talks runs the gamut from challenging class projects to expository talks on interesting mathematical topics to work done with a faculty member or research done in an REU.

Registration.

The Registration Desk will be open from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm on Friday on the first floor of Hadley Hall which is right inside the doors adjacent to the circle at the front entrance of campus. If you are pre-registered, you will be able to check-in and pick up all of your materials for the meeting at this location. At other hours, come to the math department which is on the 2nd floor of Crapo hall.

If you don't have a registration form, you can register by mailing the information below to "Kurt Bryan, Conference on Undergraduate Mathematics, Dept. of Mathematics, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Terre Haute IN 47803."  Send your

For students who will present a talk, the title and an abstract should be electronically mailed to Kurt Bryan at Kurt.Bryan@Rose-Hulman.edu. Please include requests for special equipment needs.

We'll eat lunch in the Hulman Memorial Union. Here's a campus map and here's a local map (92 Kb).

Here are driving directions to Terre Haute and Rose-Hulman from the most common directions and highways.

Meals

The conference officially opens after lunch on Friday, March 13. Your registration fees (which is free for speakers) will cover the cost of lunch on Friday, refreshments during the meeting, dinner on Friday, and lunch on Saturday.
