Presentation Types:

This conference is a great opportunity for undergraduate students to present their work, network with fellow math-interested students, and listen to excellent speakers. Class projects, independent projects, REU work, and senior theses all make suitable presentations. Presentations by undergraduates at all levels are encouraged. We highly recommend that students discuss the presentation with their advisor to ensure quality of the presentation.

Each undergraduate student may contribute one presentation, whether it is a poster or a talk.

Abstract and Title Editing:

After submitting your registration, you will receive an email confirmation. This email will contain a link that allows you to update your registration information, including the title and abstract text. All edits must be completed by April 9, 2021. If a student registers as a presenter but does not provide the title and abstract by April 9th, they may not be able to present in the conference.

Program Schedule:

Once you have submitted a title and abstract for your presentation, a presentation slot will be reserved for you. The final schedule of talks and poster presentations will be constructed following the registration deadline. Any talks that need be converted to poster presentations will be informed no later than Wednesday, April 14. The schedule will be emailed to presenters no later than the Monday prior to the conference.

Talks:

Students presenting a talk will have a total of 15 minutes for the talk and questions. It is recommended that you practice the presentation in advance and aim for a total of 10 minutes presenting material. This will allow adequate time for introductions and questions.

The MAA provides several resources that may help you prepare a great talk.

All talks will be held synchronously on the Zoom platform. Our conference software will directly link participants to the talks. All participants will receive an email with more information during the week of the conference. Note that the conference time zone is UTC-05:00 Eastern Time (US & Canada). It is recommended that all speakers plan to join the online Zoom meeting at least 15 minutes prior to their scheduled talk time.

Posters:

Students presenting a virtual poster will be part of a scheduled session. Students should be within our conference software at the time of their scheduled session, within their assigned "room." Our conference software will host the electronic file for your poster and allow you to have video conversations with anyone that comes to your poster presentation "room." Posters are a great opportunity for you to engage with other conference participants and practice your technical verbal presentation skills!
