    mean and variance of linear combinations of RV's which may not be independent
    covariance: definition, how to compute
    covariance and independence:
      If 2 RV's are independent, their covariance is zero
      If 2 RV's have zero covariance (are uncorrelated) this does not mean they are independent
    definition of correlation coefficient
