I again worked on the bot while assisting for PLC." "By this point, I had realized that no one else felt confident about building something from scratch. I had hoped that if I built some of the groundwork, then other people would jump on building other things since they could just extend the existing bot. However, it proved to not be of interest to the other members, and the one member attempting to build things constantly asked me how to make things. Unfortunately, I do not have the time to invest to make this very good, so without the other members working on the bot, we have a pretty poor bot." Fortunately, Steve had heard about our problem with our extender and devised a little replica for us in his free time, and that helped some." "2BCB32D1D6A1461EA04CC3D25D3FBF99" "Meyer, D. "Since out of the 6 people on the team only 3 of us stay after class and work on the bot or even work on it in class, I have come to the point where I could care less about how the team does this Saturday. I'm used to having a member on a team slack off, but this is rediculous. While Linday and Jeffery put some work in on the bot a couple weeks ago outside of class, only Lance, Kimbrell, and I have worked on it outside of class since then or at least have anything to show for our efforts. Often I think the middle schoolers have a less dysfunctional team than ours, at least everyone works." I also went to complete the survey for May 5th-7th but it wasn’t online yet. I went to class where we tried to finish up some of our loose end with our robots. I stayed after class to continue working on my robot. I also met with Johnathon Sullivan so that we could work on our research presentation." "I was able to get a lot done on Monday. After class I attached all of the needed sensors to one of the robots. We were then able to program a few of them. We still have a long way to go before the competition on Saturday but I think we will be ok. I was also able to meet with Johnathon Sullivan so that we could move farther along in our research presentation report. When we meet together we only brought one computer. This forced us to work as a team and communicate more effectively. We were able to research on some of the costs of the installation of our automated public transportation system. We also did some brainstorming on how we felt it would be appropriate to install these systems. Overall I think we are doing a great job. We will easily be ready to give our presentation early next week." "After a couple of hours of playing around with the arm it appears impossible to mount the arm in an alternate location. Moving the arm will require significant redesign of either the chaises or the arm itself which will not be fun. Leaving the arm in its current position is also not an option since the arm obstructs the camera and we need the camera to locate the balls for the arm to grab." Seeing that the engine block people were still struggling to figure out how to make it all work. I decided that in order not to be idle, I had to work on something that was at least related to the course in some form or fashion. So, before, during and after class I worked with the simple basis AI for the robot. I programmed which motors should run with which fuction and the basic setup for how the ball cage will be lift from the robot into the air. I also tried to make the code as easily readable as possible with enough documentation that any "unpreviledged one in the realm of CS" could understand what I was doing and pick it up easily." I also spoke to Lindsey about the paper." "Lindsey and I made an outline for the paper. Titan and I discussed an approach to finish the bot." "In addition to the classtime, I tried to get the new system in place. I was not successful, although I cam up with a good way to try and make it work. We also had some issues with the wheels of the bot, trying various different ways to try and mount the motors and other problems of the same nature. Fortunately, I think we figured out a gear ratio that will allow the bot to at least move, even if it can't get over the first PVC pipe on the playing field. I have decided to put my research into the paper on hold for this week while our group scrambles to finish the bot. I will contact my group member and discuss possible meeting time for next week so that we can finish writing our paper."
