Also looked over beyond botball and did some brainstorming." "I enjoyed brainstorming on botball. The parent who was there (can't remember name) looks like a great resource for that competition." "Had a really cool idea involving multiple bots. Seems like a really interresting strategy. A neat idea for keeping balls out of their container, and a nice idea for collecting the balls. Probably too complicated, but a nice idea." He shows a totally inadequate work attitude but it seems like no one but me and seabass (not so much) feels offended by that. We still want to try to come up with responsibilities for everyone. maybe that's gonna help but i doubt it." "C70E34857DD94E2EAAD506C160BFD67C" "Blackburn, W. "- Today's problem was two people playing with legos right in between me and the guy that was trying to show me how to calibrate the camera. My solution was to ignore them as best as I could. - I was sucessful in picking up some stuff to talk to the kids about. - We split into groups to talk about different things, I was in the group working on the camera. - I learned that some people still really like playing with legos, I found this interesting because I do not understand the facination with legos. - I learned that google is my friend for finding documentation on IC library functions. I will continue to use google to find information in the future." "9971C08F5D2B4D32800DF0015EDA4B5B" "Chvojicek, Benjamin" "chvojibc" "4/6/2006 4:57:14 PM" "1 hour" "Went over our team activities." "One of the challenges I am finding is that it is difficult to convey or teach the simple concepts of programming, especially to younger students. As simple as programming seems to us, it is only simple because we are so familiar with it. I have a friend who has worked several summers at a camp that teaches simple robotics and programming to middle school students. I am planning on contacting her for ideas on how to help enhance the material we can provide to our Botball teams." If we can do it after we get all the functionality, it'll be good." The one new thing that we decided was that we would have pizza when we went to Lincoln Middle School. When we met at 1:30 we simply just made sure that the program was installed in the laptop we were bringing and that we had simply programs ready to show them." As I had figured in my programming from yesterday, very simple and easy to understand IC problems should be introduced with some basic robotic design. (For example, how to use a servo and write IC code that make it do stuff. Simple stuff, but stuff nevertheless). We also discovered that our assigned teams STILL have not contacted us, which is a very BAD thing. After classes, I continued working on simple problems for our assigned teams to work on. Simple questions like "what is wrong with this if statement?" and purposely leave out a colon or a "=" sign for an equivlience operator. Something along textbook lines would be really nice."
