Cutting the PVC pipe was interesting, and I think my mom had fun being able to hang out with me before noon when i usually wake up on saturday." This is interesting because I thought that we would be behind them. - Scout out other teams whenever possible to make sure of your assumptions. "There was some friction about meeting over the weekend. More than one person was not so excited about it, and one person was passive-aggressively attempting to make it an online meeting instead. I however insisted that we meet in person, and considering that I was going to be in Indy, I was by far the most inconvienced, so I felt that others should bow to that. I believe that no one was really that upset about it, so it was not a big deal. For our long-term project, all of our teams are located far away, so we had a hard time with this. One of the teams asked if we had some kind of cheat sheet of function calls and such and we thought we could expand on that idea. We settled of making more comprehensive documentation for botball hardware and programming software in the form of a webpage. This seems to stay within the objectives given despite our inability to interact with our teams well." "I am concerned because I have not heard anything from the St. Mary's team yet, but I will continue to bug them until they say they don't want any help. Not to say that I will be annoying, just helpful and concerned. Feed back from them will hopefully come at a later date, and we might want to think about taking a trip out there to see their school and meet the students. I think a good time to do this would be during the mid-project checkup. That way we can get some personal feedback from them on how things are going and what they have questions on. Plus it would be nice to see another team in action." We decided - probably correctly - that two of the teams we are to assist don't want much assistance in teamwork (at least), but we still have two teams we are in contact with. We broke up the work for the longer exercise and discussed Beyond Botball as well. Although a more regimented breakdown for our team would have made the meeting more efficient, I think it might have a negative impact on our team spirit." "After reading though the slide show from the oriantation days about the camera system, I was unable to think of a better way of present the material. The problem here was that I lack any real experience with the camera system, so as far as I could tell the presention already created was the best way to present it. If I had had more experience in actual operation of the camera I might have been able to come up with a better way of presenting the information or I may have agreed with the presentation being the best way. I do not know because I have not been able to use the camera, even with the use of the camera for the example in the slide show, that's still not practical experiance with it." On Saturday I came in and helped TH North with their project." "The teambuilding exercise went over very well. The children were able to figure out what the project was getting at. The practice we did in our class helped out very much. Working with the high schoolers on Saturday reminded me at how apathetic and rude some high schoolers (and Rose kids) can be. With a student listening to his music while we were all sorting, I felt the team wasn’t too cohesive. This is something that should be worked on with the team. I also spent some time working on the playing field. Pipe cutters beat a hacksaw any day." I then sent out an email the explained how to do this to Lindsay. Our group also went to Woodrow Wilson on Friday to work with our school team. After we got back from Woodrow Wilson I received an email from Lindsay about when here team would be meeting this week. I then sent out an email to my group stating the possible times that we could go to Lincoln Middle School. I also completed the survey for March 23rd on Friday. Later on Friday I received and replied to an email from one of my team members, Jeffery, in which stated that he preferred to go to Lincoln Middle School on Wednesday." "We worked very well as a team on Friday and over the weekend. We finally meet with our Woodrow Wilson team for the first time. When we were there we had the students play a team exercise called Invisible Maze. I thought that this went very well. All of the students worked together very well. When the game was over and we asked the students what they learned, it was apparent that it was a success. We asked the student what they learned and they replied back, teamwork. We also started to make progress on setting up a time to go to Lincoln Middle School. We received a list of the times that they meet along with the progress that they have already made. It looks like we will be taking a trip to Lincoln Middle School on Wednesday of next week. With this I hope that if our teams do get ahold of us, and being tha they are a long distance away from us (which makes it hard to visit) we can hand them information as to what to do as team building exercises as well as practice for learning IC.
