I hope you noticed that I did that very accurately, before. I will put in an average of 2.5 hours per day/weekend, which is the minimum of time I actually spend, including class, class assignments, working with our Botball teams, team communications, several team meetings for Beyond Botball, individual work/thought on Beyond Botball, and possibly other things which I can't think of anymore, right now. I hope that is acceptable for you. Thanks." "" "496B72835E3C4C489C9611405B1085D9" "Blackburn, W. Ryan" "blackbwr" "4/30/2006 3:58:13 PM" "3 hours" "Worked on building the bot for boynd botball. "- I encountered no problems. - I'll be able to check how what I'm doing is working when we start programming our robots. - I did not work with my teammmates. - I learned that one team has the program done, but no robot, I thought that was interesting because it seems like it would be hard to test their program without a robot. - The programming practice should do me good in the future as well." I also got IC working with the board." "The main goal for today was to get a working testbed (chassis) with our Handyboard attached. Now we can start attaching prototype pieces to it and begin testing and integrating. I also uploaded a simple program to remote control the robot for testing purposes. Unfortunately I wasn't able to do much teamwork today as I was the only one who could make it to the lab. But the main motivation for today was to simply get something built so we could start testing things out as soon as possible. I'm not sure that my other teammates realize how much time it takes to adequately test and tweak something and competition day will be here sooner than they think. Tomorrow I plan to really push to get the ball rolling." "I worked on my own trying to plan out a new way we can get to th other side and retreive the bot guy. Our current method does not seem to consider our opponent. I was trying to figure out a way for us to keep our opponent in mind while retrieving the bot guy." "The first thing that I designed this day was a method for attaching the top of the height extender to the actual ball basket, since given the nature of how it extends (once again, an example can be found here: http://www.daddonastudios.com/pages/1/kids/images/boxing_glove.jpg ) it means the device can't be actually fixed to the ball basket, otherwise it won't extend and won't do anything at all. So the first half of the day I worked on a way that the extender could slide along the basket, if the basket had rods underneath it. I eventually got that working, and starting thinking about how to actually lift the whole thing, since it needed a compressing action between two points to work. There were a few possibilities, but either hydralics or a motor attached to flat gears seemed the best options. I decided to work on the hydralics, since I'd never really used them before and thought the compression and extension mechanism of them fit well into what I was doing. So an hour or two later I figured out how they worked and had attached them to my extender successfully. One pump could lift and drop the extender a few times on a full pump, but this was without the ball basket, so I didn't think it'd work too well with the extra weight, and that at least two pumps would be needed if hydralics would work. But, I had to go, and at least I had something to show my team." "C54580D2263D4DB0A2ADC0EF57A97C49" "Meyer, D. I did bump into Andy and he showed me the new design for the movement. They discovered that maybe the wheels were not going to be as effective as originally planned. So they decided to build a treaded machine just like tank to crawl over the PVC pipes. Sounded like a good idea. I finished up building my incredibly beautiful box by rigging the scooper to the front of the box. Tommorrow, I hope to able to put together some of indiviual pieces together.
