I hope you noticed that I did that very accurately, before. I will put in an average of 2.5 hours per day/weekend, which is the minimum of time I actually spend, including class, class assignments, working with our Botball teams, team communications, several team meetings for Beyond Botball, individual work/thought on Beyond Botball, and possibly other things which I can't think of anymore, right now. I hope that is acceptable for you. Thanks." "" "9950463B9EF442CB82D73CD5E423871A" "Blackburn, W. Ryan" "blackbwr" "4/30/2006 3:49:37 PM" "2 hours" "Class and work on the beyond botball." Part of that time was spent in class organizing the St. Louis trip." "Currently the main problem is still motivation among the team. However, now that we have a hard deadline in front of us, my teammates seem to be more ready to jump on board. Most of class was spent building things with LEGOs, but I also discussed a St. Louis trip with other team's members. The main problem with the St. Louis trip will be organization. We will try to be visitng two schools while we're out there and coordination will be difficult, but not impossible. Later in the week plans should solidify." We just need to figure out how to get the motors to attach and work well. I don't think there's an easy way to do that, which is sort of strange, but I think we'll be able to figure it out regardless. Hopefully there will be no teammate issues - we haven't had any so far!" The post class session worked better because those who wanted to be there did work and weren't held back by people doing their homework." Also attended class." "I mainly worked by myself on this project, although the idea and design for the part was done with a team mate. The piece went through a variety of stages before I felt it was at least in a workable condition, and there was a lot of experimentation involved on my part with the building process, foremost of which being what parts I would use and how I would be using them. I was given more or less immediate feedback during the building process, not from my team mates but from whether or not the part functioned as I had intended it to or not. I learned a lot more about simple mechanics of gears and chains than I think I'd ever really known before, as well as the structure and support necesarry to make those things work properly." I also went to class where my group worked on building our robot. I also stayed after class to continue working on my robot." "On Monday, while we did get a lot done, we had to do a lot of backtracking. We decided to make a lot of changes to the robot and basically had to start from scratch. I think we would be able to get more done if the class was just a little longer. The robot that we have rebuilt is a robot with 2 main wheels and one wheel in the back. We are going to try and hook up a mouse ball for the back wheel on Thursday. The problem that we will face is how we are going to get the robot over the pvc pipe. Hopefully we will be able to come up with some solution on Thursday." So we dont have as much time left as we would like. We decided to split up into two groups. Group one: Builds basic stuff such as the platform that moves around. This is the group I'm in. Group two: Builds things related to the competation. such as the ball picker-up-er and the basket. We're hopeing to get all the building done by the end of the week that way we can work on the programing the next week, and have a week left over to test things. This is a pretty tight schedule though, and we might not make it. I basically made a huge box with some moveable pieces so that a grappler arm could be attached to the box as well as have enough movement to be attached to a servo to grab or scoop up stuff. In class we basically showed each other our pieces and started to put the pieces together. Then we discovered a flaw in at least my design. I had designed it to hold pingpong balls. We need to hold softball sized foam balls. So basically I then spent the rest of the time trying to undo everything I just did."
