I don't want to know how much work the programming will be. We also talked more with Goshen. Some of our team went to indy, and I got tied up in that too." "We made the very important decision that our robot simply needs to beat the other team, not do anything else. This is good, because now we are more focused." I hope you noticed that I did that very accurately, before. I will put in an average of 2.5 hours per day/weekend, which is the minimum of time I actually spend, including class, class assignments, working with our Botball teams, team communications, several team meetings for Beyond Botball, individual work/thought on Beyond Botball, and possibly other things which I can't think of anymore, right now. I hope that is acceptable for you. Thanks." "" "3BC267A0BAAD4F5A8A7E6093A4549178" "Blackburn, W. Ryan" "blackbwr" "4/30/2006 3:32:14 PM" "2 hours" "WOrked on lego bot." Then talked to some people on other teams over the weekend to see how they are progressing on the beyond botball stuff." "- Some of the parts didn't integrate well, and some were clearly better than others (there was some overlap in what we built). - We started off using the parts that I had made to hold the "brain" on our robot, but it turned out that using other parts you could make a much more efficient brace for it. The base got used, so at least I built something right. - We did extreme programming with three people working and three people watching. - I learned that I have alot to learn about different lego parts, this is interesting because when I think legos I usually only thing about the rectangular blocks. - I think continuous integration testing is a good idea, and it's something that I'll probably be doing in the workplace." "We had planned to have our entire group meet on Friday, but two members did not show up, so we were unable to have a successful meeting then. We were unable to reschedule a time to meet again as a group, since the FE exam was this weekend and that ate up a lot of time for two of our members (myself included). My partner and I were able to work on our stratrgy document, however, and made good progress there. So far the XP style is working alright, but it's still not as good as it could be. The main problem seems to be staying focussed, and while that may or may not be directly related to XP it is still a major problem. Mostly the person who is watching tends to get distracted." On Sunday I also caught up with recording my hours." "The WWMS students worked much better today partly becasue it took them to complete their tasks the entire time to finish their task. The division of our team worked much better as everyone was doing something. Would it be possible to post new reflection forms at the beginning of each week? That would work better for myself, and others I'd imagine, as I often forget specifics of what I've done and am probably shortchanging myself on hours. Thanks. I also went to the lab to work on one of the robots. Then I went to Woodrow Wilson to work with my school team. After we got back to Rose we meet with our group to work on our robots." "Our team was very successful on Friday. We have one working robot and a second robot 80% done, minus the software on both. If things keep moving at this speed we should have a functional robot that could score many points by the end of the semester. We also have been making progress on the Woodrow Wilson team. They worked very well on Friday. We separated them into small groups and gave them each small tasks to complete. This seems to work really well. All of the students worked really hard to complete the tasks that they were assigned. I spent time trying to aid Goshen Middle school with the camera." "Goshen is still having problems. I recently gave them some additional advice, which may or may not work. It is extremely frustrating to try to troubleshoot on something that you have no actually expierence with, and working on a robot that is several hours away. I hope that we could go down there so I could see the problem, so that I may better be able to understand the issue, and give a better solution." Luckily, there is little to no difference. In fact, it might actually be a bit for useful as it has LED lights on it that can be visually identified from range to see if the program is working or not. We then tested some of the random sensors and motors on the handyboard and discovered that little to no difference is to be had. Now we just ned to figure out what materials we need and if we need several motors for the wheels and stuff like that. The meeting is set for this Sunday when everone has a chance to fiddle around with the legos and the like. Also, I talked to group members about timetables and when they thought we'd be getting all of these things done."
