I hope you noticed that I did that very accurately, before. I will put in an average of 2.5 hours per day/weekend, which is the minimum of time I actually spend, including class, class assignments, working with our Botball teams, team communications, several team meetings for Beyond Botball, individual work/thought on Beyond Botball, and possibly other things which I can't think of anymore, right now. I hope that is acceptable for you. Thanks." "" "339E240A663C48AFBA2492C8596DC734" "Blackburn, W. Ryan" "blackbwr" "4/23/2006 3:47:45 PM" "1 hour" "Emailed and communicated with middle school team." "- We couldn't figure out whether we had a "formal" meeting in the CS lab or not because of the new schedule and career fair. We decided that, from now on, we'll do an e-mail before each meeting. - It seems like I have a good idea for the distraction robot, but I won't find out how that works until later. - We talked over AIM and worked on our own. - Even if everyone agrees on something the day before it's supposed to happen, they can still forget to do it. This is interesting because it is a little counter-intuitive. - I should keep in mind that people can forget things very quickly and, if I'm leading a team, send appropriate reminders." I also did some searching on the internet regarding its history and uses. I also spent time with my XP partner coming up with ideas for our first set of tasks." "It is interesting to me to consider the speed at which technology and society are evolving in this information age. Not only are we changing at an increasing rate, but we are developing methods to help us keep up this pace--one of which being XP. It seems like keywords like 'rapid development' and 'time to market' emphasize the fact that, today, time is of the essence, and in order to succeed one must devise new ways to minimize the time spent in the development cycle. It is an interesting shift, and I wonder if we will reach a point (a critical mass, so to speak) at which we will either no longer be able to speed up, or we will be pushed over the edge at which point society as we know it will cease to exist. Perhaps this new society will no longer be restriced by conventional time and space!" It's a challenge that is going to be conquered by someone else. My job is to figure out how to make the robot do all that and more. Making things dynamic is going to be difficult, especially when we tend to thing of things in a linear progression. So I focused on how to move backwards and open a claw at the same time while trying to grab a "botguy" and almost a full 180 degree spin. KISS this will probably be not, but heck, it's going to be alot of fun."
