"- I didn't encounter any problems. - I think our plan for what our robot/robots are going to do is good, but we'll find out soon. - We organized ourselves via the extreme programming paradigm. - Sometimes it is good to have someone watching you to make sure you don't make stupid mistakes. Outside of class I looked up Extreme Programming on the web for more resources." "The biggest challenge for the day was getting back into work mode. The quick summary and in-class refresher helped bring me (and our team) back up to speed, though. Another concern for me was that my mid-term grade wasn't what I wanted. I knew that I would need to step up the workload, and although I was concerned that it was difficult to find enough work to do (and time to do it) I think the second half of the quarter will prove to be easier in that there will be plenty of work to be done." I also whet to class where were discussed the design of our robot." "Monday was partly a catch up day. I completed most of the surveys from week 5. Our group also stated working on designing our robot. We tried a method called extreme programming. We broke into three groups of two. Each sub-group worked on a quick design of our robot and what we wanted it to do. My group consisted of Lindsay and me. She started sketching ideas while I stood back and gave suggestions on what I thought we might want it to do. We then got back together and compared our results. We decided to merge the three designs together. I think using the extreme programming will be very useful. Now that we have a better idea of where we want to go we will be able to break into groups to begin building the actual robot." We still like the strategy of trying to block them and then getting a few points so that we win. We're going to have to figure out how to acomplish this though. I also worked on organizing the trip to Hamilton Southeast." "This time seemed to go well, however, my team got very little accomplished during the time, which is probably due to the time needed to brainstorm." Then we got told that we're going out to St. Louis to meet them. So, we'll head on over and see what they need and then move from there. We then talked about robot design and came to the conclusion that our "team theme" is as a "Hockey Team". Constant changes between offense and defense and not afraid to use a little brute force to get the job done. I like it. We also talked about grapler arms and the probability of things working like we think they should. On Thursday, we'll get together and start plugging through at least the programming piece of it to see what we can and cannot get away with." " "I found it hard to stick to the XP system as we initially began the project because there was so much to do. The tasks that we set about doing, such as gathering supplies and clearing a space to set up the computer for programming, did not require another group member to be watching us. For this reason, we deviated from the official working structure and had everyone in the group doing something."
