Information about Exam 1

Exam 1 is Monday evening, September 17, from 8:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.

So NOT during regular class. This is an EVENING exam.
For most of you, the exam is NOT in our usual classroom. Instead, rooms for the exam are as follows. If your last name begins with:
- A through D: Your room is Olin 269.
- E through K: Your room is Olin 257.
- L through S: Your room is Olin 259.
- T through Z: Your room is Olin 267.

If you have any questions about the following documents/instructions, ask your instructor about them BEFORE you begin Exam 1.

Format of Exam 1
- Read this explanation of the Format of Exam 1.
  Reminder:
  
  You MUST have completed all the practice problems, to your instructor's satisfaction, BEFORE you take Exam 1.
  - The practice problems are:
    - The EXCELLENT Practice Problems for the On-The-Computer portion of Exam 1, in the Session06_Exam1_Practice project.
    - The problems in the Session05a_Debugging project.
      
      They will be a HUGE help when you encounter run-time error messages during Exam 1.
      
      Each problem is very short. For each, get help immediately if you don't quickly see how to debug it, or ...
      
      Look at this video showing the solutions to the m1 exercises in the Session05a_Debugging project. Watching the video closely, perhaps taking notes as you do so, is almost as good as working through the problems yourself. (Note: the video has a watermark because I have not yet learned EIT's license code for the tool that I used to make the video. The video is reasonably clear despite the watermark.)
    - The EXCELLENT Practice Problems for the Paper-And-Pencil portion of Exam 1.
      
      You received paper copy of these in class during Session 5. Those same problems are also available here.
      
      AFTER (!) doing each page of those problems, check your answers to the problems on that page via the Answer Key to those problems.
      
      The Answer Key has the same page-by-page organization as the questions. Do a page of questions, then check your answers for (only) that page. Then do another page of questions, check your answers to that page, and so forth.
  - They (all THREE items above) are your ADMISSION TICKET to Exam 1.
  If the time for Exam 1 arrives and you have NOT finished the above preparation, come to the exam anyhow and ask your instructor for instructions.
