We use the following software development tools in CSSE 120:

• PyCharm Professional: our Interactive Development Environment (IDE)
• For getting projects from us and turning in your work:
  • Git: our version control system
  • GitHub: the site/organization at which we store the repositories containing your code
• Python 3.7: our programming language

The following instructions help you set up the above tools on your computer. If you have any troubles doing the following, no worries -- just get help as needed in class or from your instructor.

• Step 1: Follow these instructions for installing PyCharm Professional and Git, and creating a GitHub account.
• Step 2: Follow these instructions for installing Python 3.7.
  • IMPORTANT: Follow the above instructions to install Python 3.7 even if you have a previous version of Python (e.g. Python 3.6). Python 3.7 is quite new so it is unlikely that you have it installed.
• Step 3: Follow these instructions for setting up PyCharm Professional.
