CSSE 413: AI Presentation
In order to get a sense of the breadth of AI, as well as of current
research in this field, select and present a research article or
research project, or otherwise interesting AI application.
Topics
Feel free to select projects among those listed at the following
sites. You may wish to explore other universities and research labs
also. In order to avoid duplication, please pass your project proposal
by me.
Organizational Aspects
- Work on the project in pairs.
- Select a topic by 5pm on Friday October 19th. If more than one
group proposes to investigate the same research project, the first one
to do so will receive permission to present it.
- You have to write a concise and well-written report of the
research project, complete with references and such and you have to
give a 15 minute class presentation give or take a few minutes,
followed by 5 minutes of discussion. Presentations will be scheduled
for the last week of classes. The written report is due on the day of
your scheduled presentation at the beginning of class. Three pages!
Contents
The presentation should summarize the work on which you report and
demonstrate existing software, if available and accessible. You may
wish to contact the principle investigator for this purpose. Please
use diagrams and other visual aids available on the web-site or papers
to help the audience understand the work done. Also give a good
example or two of the work they have done.
Additionally, please address the following issues.
- Does the project use searching? If so what kind of searching and where?
- What formalism is used to present knowledge?
- Why is this an AI project, instead of, say, an interesting data-structures project?
- What do you see as a pittfall in this project?
- How would you extend this work?
