This file contains information on the following topics: > System Requirements > Installation > Uninstall > Information for All Users > Information for 1-2-3 Users > Information for Approach Users > Information for FastSite Users > Information for Freelance Graphics Users > Information for Organizer Users > Information for ScreenCam Users > Information for SmartCenter Users > Information for Word Pro Users > Cross-Application Information > Known Issues > Extra Content on the CD > Miscellaneous System Requirements To use SmartSuite, you need the following equipment: * IBM PC or compatible 80486/50 or higher * VGA Adapter or higher resolution adapter and monitor * Mouse or other pointing device * Microsoft Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0 * CD-ROM or 3.5" drive * Memory: - 8MB minimum, 12MB recommended when running more than one application in Windows 95 - 16 MB minimum for Windows NT 4.0 * Disk space: - Minimum hard disk: 96MB - Run from CD-ROM: 28MB Installation Before you try to install SmartSuite, you should close all Windows programs and shut down all anti-virus protection programs. > Default Folder Structure SmartSuite offers a default folder structure. This structure makes it easier to maintain and upgrade your products, since your work, backup, SmartMaster templates, samples, and other folders are independent of your main product folder. Lotus recommends that you install all of your Lotus products under this folder structure. This diagram illustrates the default folder structure for a complete installation: LOTUS\ (Main Lotus product folder for all Lotus products) | | |---\ (Executables and other core | files for one Lotus product, e.g., \WORDPRO) | |---\ (Executables and other core | files for another Lotus product, e.g., \123) | . (other Lotus products here, for example:) | . \SMARTCTR \APPROACH | . \SCRNCAM \ORGANIZE | . \ACROREAD \FLG | |---SMASTERS\ (SmartMaster templates for all Lotus products) | | | |-- (SmartMaster templates for Lotus product 1) | | | |-- (SmartMaster templates for Lotus product 2) | |---SAMPLES\ (Samples for all Lotus products) | | | |-- (Samples for Lotus product 1) | | | |-- (Samples for Lotus product 2) | |---WORK\ (Work folder for all Lotus products) | | | |-- (Work folder for Lotus product 1) | | | |-- (Work folder for Lotus product 2) | |---BACKUP\ (Backup folder for all Lotus products) | | | |-- (Backup folder for Lotus product 1) | | | |-- (Backup folder for Lotus product 2) | |---COMPNENT\ (Shared components for all Lotus products) > If You Are a Network Administrator If you are a network administrator, see the READNET.TXT file on your CD-ROM in the \LOTUS folder (or on Disk 1 if you are installing from disk). READNET.TXT contains information about supported networks, performing server and node installs, running an automated Install, and other network-related topics. > Installing SmartSuite with Notes 4.5 If you want to install SmartSuite and Notes 4.5 on the same system, you must install Notes 4.5 before you install SmartSuite. Otherwise, the Uninstall feature will not work properly for the SmartSuite products. > Installing SmartSuite on Windows NT 4.0 If you plan to install SmartSuite on a system running Windows NT(TM) 4.0 or later, you should have administrator privileges on that system. This will ensure that the files that should be copied to \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 are updated if they are in use by another program. If you do not have administrator privileges, shut down all applications and restart Windows NT before you install SmartSuite. If you are using Notes 3.x, you cannot use TeamMail to route mail on systems running Windows NT. In addition, you cannot use Notes/FX between SmartSuite products and Notes 3.x. Lotus recommends that you upgrade to Notes 4.x if you are running Windows NT and SmartSuite. > Installing SmartSuite Follow these instructions to install SmartSuite: 1. Insert the CD-ROM or Disk 1 into the appropriate drive. 2. Choose Start - Run from the Taskbar. 3. Type X:\Install in the Run dialog box (where X: is the letter of your CD-ROM drive or your disk drive). Note: Install consists of a series of dialog boxes that are self-explanatory. If you need more information when using a dialog box, choose Help by clicking Help or pressing ALT+H. 4. After Install is complete, restart Windows. >> Calculating the size of an application During SmartSuite Install, the "Select SmartSuite Applications to Customize" dialog box appears. This dialog box contains a list box with a size field that shows the default size of an application. Please note that if you customize an application and delete features, the dialog box does not update the size field, even though the application now requires less disk space. >> 3.5" Disks If you install SmartSuite from 3.5" disks rather than from CD, the following features are not included: * DocOnline * Extra content * Global English Dictionary or Thesaurus > Making the Install Program Efficient To maximize the efficiency of the SmartSuite Install program, you should perform the following procedure to reclaim lost clusters on your hard drive before you run Install. You do not have to convert the lost clusters to files. On systems using Windows 95 or NT 4.0, complete the following steps: 1. Open Windows Explorer. 2. Right-click your hard-drive letter (for example, C:). 3. Choose Properties. 4. Click Tools. 5. Click Check Now under Error-checking status. > Multilingual Installation As part of its strategy for multilingual computing, Lotus provides SmartSuite in multiple languages. Note: Check your CD to see if you have a version of SmartSuite that has more than one language. If your version contains only an English version, the following information does not apply. If your version of SmartSuite has more than one language, you can install several copies of SmartSuite, each copy in a different language. For example, if your version has SmartSuite in English, Italian, and Spanish you can install all three languages in three versions of SmartSuite from the same CD. >> Installing a Primary Language The first language that you select to install SmartSuite becomes the primary language. For example, if you install the Portuguese version of SmartSuite before you install other languages, Portuguese becomes the primary language. It's important to install all of the SmartSuite applications in the primary language before you add other language versions of SmartSuite. Once you select and install the version you want to use as a primary language, SmartSuite creates a primary language folder. You can use this folder to add additional language versions of SmartSuite. >> Adding Additional Language Versions You must run SmartSuite Install each time you want to install any product in an additional language. After you install the primary language, you have to use the same type of install (Default, Minimum and Custom) when you add languages; however, you need less disk space for each subsequent install. The Install program informs you that you already have a copy of the application in a different language, and preserves the folder structure of the primary language. If you change to a different primary folder, you no longer have a multilingual installation. When you install different language versions of SmartSuite, Install creates a folder for each language you install. For each language installed after the primary language, the folder name will include a 2-character ISO tag to identify the language. For example, if English is the primary language, then English applications will be in a folder called "Lotus Programs," and Italian applications will be in a folder called "Lotus Programs - IT." As you add additional language versions of SmartSuite, the Install program populates the Start menu with icons for the additional languages. For example, the icon for the Italian version of Word Pro is labeled "Lotus Word Pro - IT." > Reading the Individual Readme Files After you install SmartSuite, you can read the README files for the individual applications for more information. The README files reside in each application's folder. For example, the readme for 1-2-3 resides in C:\LOTUS\123\README.WRI. To read these files, select Start - Programs - Lotus Applications - Lotus User Assistance from the Windows Taskbar. > Removing the Registration Files To help you save hard-disk space, you can remove the Lotus registration files only after you have successfully installed and registered SmartSuite. This will save approximately 1.6MB on your hard disk. To remove the Lotus electronic registration program from your system, first remove the reminder utility from the StartUp group: 1. Choose Start - Settings - Taskbar. 2. Click the Start Menu Programs tab. 3. Click Remove. 4. Expand the StartUp folder. 5. Select Lotus SmartSuite Registration. 6. Click Remove. 7. Delete all the files in the Register folder located in :\\REGISTER. (For example, C:\LOTUS\REGISTER.) > Server and Distribution Install Lotus recommends that you install the Server and Distribution versions of SmartSuite in new or empty folders. Uninstall The Uninstall program allows you to remove all files associated with a selected Lotus application that were copied to your system when the application was installed. It also removes all program folders or groups, shortcut icons, icons, and Windows registry entries. Note: You cannot use Uninstall to remove files added when you installed a second or subsequent language. * Uninstall displays messages and prompts you before it removes any user-modified file so you can decide whether or not to remove the file. * Uninstall also creates an output log and displays error messages so that you can track and review the entire process. Uninstall writes over the output log each time it is run; if you want to save the log, you must rename the file. * Uninstall does not delete files in your WORK or personal folders, or other files that were changed after they were installed. It does not delete a folder until all folders and files are removed from that folder. In addition, Uninstall does not remove files copied to a file server during a Server Install. * Uninstall displays a prompt before it removes some product files. If you decide not to remove a product completely, then Uninstall does not remove itself or the product .INF and CINSTALL.INI files. If you want to run Uninstall again, do not remove these files manually. * Uninstall does not remove files needed by another Lotus product. Be careful not to remove these shared files manually, or other Lotus applications will not run correctly. Uninstall will remove these files when it removes the last Lotus application. > Starting Uninstall Uninstall is available to users from the Start menu in Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0. 1. Choose Start - Settings - Control Panel from the Windows Taskbar. 2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs. 3. Select Lotus SmartSuite. 4. Choose Add/Remove. 5. Select the applications to be removed. 6. Click OK. Information for All Users Lotus provides a list of problems reported with previous releases of SmartSuite that are fixed in this release. This list is located on the Web at http://www.lotus.com/smartsuiteupdates. Information for 1-2-3 Users > Installing 1-2-3 on Network Drives If you installed 1-2-3 on a network drive, you must use the same network drive letter to launch 1-2-3 that you used when you installed it. For example, if you installed 1-2-3 from a network server you mapped to X:, then you must also start 1-2-3 using X: For example, X:\LOTUS\123\123W.EXE. If you installed 1-2-3 using Universal Naming Convention (UNC), you must also launch 1-2-3 using UNC. If you do not follow these conventions, you may not be able to do the following: - Open a 1-2-3 workbook embedded in a Notes document if 1-2-3 is already running. - Open a 1-2-3 workbook from the command line if 1-2-3 is already running. To solve these problems, run 1-2-3 from the same network drive you used when you installed 1-2-3. Information for Approach Users > Installing Approach from a Read-Only File Server Folder If you install Approach to a file server and then make the Approach folder read-only for Approach users, you may have problems running the Help QuickDemos. If you make the server folder read-only for the users, make the following folder read-write to prevent problems: * \LOTUS\SAMPLES\APPROACH > Folders with Names Containing Hyphens If you install Lotus Approach to a folder with a name that contains a hyphen (-), you cannot use Uninstall to remove this installation of Approach. Information for FastSite Users > Linked data in Freelance Graphics Files If you open a Freelance Graphics presentation file from within FastSite and edit any linked data in the presentation (for example, a link to a range in a spreadsheet), you cannot save your changes. To save changes to linked data, you must start a regular session of Freelance Graphics, edit the file, and then save your changes in Freelance Graphics. Information for Freelance Graphics Users > Default Installation The following features are NOT installed during a default installation of Freelance Graphics: * International dictionaries * LotusScript Help files (script, Chart script, and Freelance Graphics script) * Import filters: DXF, PICT, Micrografx DRW, HGL, GAL, RND, TGA (filter and ini), WPG (two filters and two ini files), Adobe EPS, GAL, OS/2 MET, Kodak PCD, and Zsoft PCX * Export filters: TGA (filter and ini), MET (filter and ini), AI & EPS (emps-32.flt and ini), CGM, and WPG (two filters and two ini files). * Sound files * The Freelance Graphics Presentation and Review Library * 60 GoldDisk movie files * 52 clip art files (mostly maps) * 83 SmartMaster looks * 5 SmartMaster content files * 1 diagram file You can install any of these features by selecting "Customize features - manual install" when you install Freelance Graphics. If Freelance Graphics Release 9 is already installed, run install, select "Customize features - manual install," and choose only those features you did not previously install. Note: When you select "Customize features - manual install," uncheck and then select the check box at the top of each tab to select all the items in that tab. > Removing Freelance Graphics 96 and 97 files When you install Freelance Graphics Release 9 to a directory containing Freelance Graphics 96 or 97, the previous version is automatically uninstalled before Freelance Graphics is installed. If you want, however, to install Freelance Graphics Release 9 to a different directory than the one in which Freelance Graphics 96 or 97 is located, you need to run Uninstall first to remove the old Freelance Graphics files. > Removing Freelance Graphics Release 2.0 for Windows 3.1 files When you install Freelance Graphics, the installation program automatically offers to remove the old program files. However, if you want to delete Freelance Graphics Release 2.0 program files at a later time, you can delete the following files. >> FLW Directory Under the FLW directory you can delete: Icons - the entire directory Backup - these can be deleted. However, you may want to save some of these files in the Freelance Graphics 97 Edition backup directory (backup\flg) Masters - the entire directory if you have never modified any of the following files: *.pal *.bw * 256color.pre *.sym files that haven't been modified *.mas files that haven't been modified >> LOTUSAPP Directory Under the LOTUSAPP directory you can delete: The entire contents of this directory, if you have never installed another Lotus application (including Notes and cc:Mail). Also, you can delete the entire contents of the filters directory, whether or not you have ever installed another Lotus application. >> Windows Directory Under the Windows directory you can delete: flw*.ini Lotus.ini (if you have never installed another Lotus application, including Notes & cc:Mail). > Freelance SmartMaster Looks You can save up to 19MB of hard-disk space by accessing the SmartMaster looks, content topics, clip art, palettes, and diagrams directly from your CD-ROM. To do this: 1. Install Freelance Graphics, then delete all the SmartMaster looks, content topics, palettes, clip art, and diagram files in C:\LOTUS\SMASTERS\FLG. 2. In Freelance Graphics, choose File - User Setup - Freelance Preferences. 3. In the Freelance Graphics Preferences dialog box, click File Locations. 4. In the File Locations dialog box, set the path under "SmartMaster looks, palettes, & clip art" to \LOTUS\SMASTERS\FLG on the CD-ROM. 5. Click OK to return to the Freelance Graphics Preferences dialog box. 6. Click OK. > Freelance Graphics and Trend Lines When you display scatter (x,y) charts in Freelance Graphics Release 9 (R9), trend lines appear by default. However, in Freelance Graphics 97, 1-2-3 R9, and Word Pro R9, trend lines do NOT appear by default. For more information contact Lotus customer support. Information for Organizer Users > Protecting Files with a Password You can set passwords on your Organizer files so that others can view or change your schedule, names and addresses, and other information. When your files are password-protected, SmartCenter prompts you for the password when you first open the calendar and address drawers, and when you change or add information. In Organizer, you can set three types of access for a file: Owner, Assistant, and Reader. Assign a certain password to a particular access right. For example, if you use "carrots" as a Reader password, give this password to users you want to have Reader access to your file. If you type an incorrect password, SmartCenter displays a blank copy of your calendar or address drawer. To restore these drawers, simply close and then reopen the drawer. You may want to turn off the password protection for your local copy of your calendar and addresses so that you are not prompted for a password each time you change information. > Organier 4.1 and Notes 5.0 The group scheduling features in Organizer 4.1 have been designed to work with Notes/Domino 4.5x and 4.6x. Notes/Domino 5.0 will be substantially different from these supported releases, and Organizer 4.1 group scheduling configurations will neither install nor run against the Notes/Domino 5.0 back end. Lotus plans to release a future version of Organizer which will support this configuration. Information for ScreenCam Users Due to technical differences between Microsoft Windows 95 and Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, a separate version of ScreenCam is required for each operating system. Both ScreenCam for Windows 95 and ScreenCam for Windows NT are included with this version of SmartSuite. The version appropriate for your operating system is automatically installed. Note that ScreenCam for Windows NT only supports version 4.0 of Windows NT. An S3- compatible video device driver is also required. During Install, ScreenCam for Windows NT modifies the video device driver on your system to enable ScreenCam to record under Windows NT 4.0. Install changes the name of the current video device driver to one recognized by ScreenCam. This does not affect other applications on your system. If, however, you reinstall Windows NT or upgrade the operating system with a service pack, you should double-click the RESTORE.EXE in the ScreenCam for Windows NT directory and then reinstall ScreenCam. Information for SmartCenter Users > Default Install If you do a default Install, the Dictionary files remain on the CD. To use the Dictionary folder, you need to keep the CD-ROM in the drive. > Minimum or Customized Installs If you did a minimum or customized Install of SmartCenter and deselected the Help file, you will see the following error messages: "Cannot find or load the file lthlpn31.dll. This file should be copied to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM or a directory in your PATH." ...and then "An error exists in this Help file. Contact your application vendor for an updated Help file (1024)." When you click past these error messages, the Help topic "Team Mail dialog box: Basics Panel" appears, but you cannot navigate into other areas of the Team Mail Help file. In addition to the error messages described above, when you click Help anywhere from within SmartCenter, the following error message appears: "Cannot find the sc1n98EN.hlp file. Do you want to try and find this file yourself?" and you can choose Yes or No. Clicking Yes displays the Open File dialog box, but because the file doesn't exist you will not be able to find it. If you then click Cancel or Open, or if you clicked No on the previous dialog box, the following error message appears: "Cannot find the sc1n98EN.hlp Help file. Check to see that the file exists on your disk. If it doesn't, you need to reinstall it." To avoid these error messages, you can reinstall SmartCenter by choosing a customized Install and selecting "Help and Samples." (You do not need to select the online Help.) > Upgrading from SmartCenter 97 When you upgrade from SmartCenter 97 to SmartCenter Release 9, you lose any customization that you have added to the default configuration of SmartCenter 97. For example, you lose any drawers, folders, or URLs that you have added or moved, as well as any changes to the default sizes, colors, and sounds in SmartCenter. To restore any lost folders and drawers, as well as any customized features, you must edit your Windows 95 registry. Follow these steps: 1. Start SmartCenter. 2. In SmartCenter, choose Lotus -- Exit SmartCenter. 3. From the Windows 95 taskbar, choose Start - Run. 4. Type regedit in the Open box. 5. Double-click HKEY_CURRENT_USER, then SOFTWARE, then LOTUS. 6. Right-click SmartCenter, and choose Delete. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ | |---SOFTWARE\ | |---LOTUS\ | |---SMARTCENTER 7. Exit the registry. 8. From the taskbar, choose Start - Programs - Windows Explorer. 9. Find smartctrsc98rg0.reg in the \LOTUS\WORK\ folder. 10. Double-click smartctrsc98rg0.reg. A message tells you that you have successfully updated the registry. 11. Click OK. After you complete these steps, you can restart SmartCenter. Any customization that you added to your previous version of SmartCenter should be restored. >>SmartCenter does not support co-existence You cannot run SmartCenter Release 9 and previous versions of SmartCenter on the same system. If you have SmartCenter 96 or 97 on your system, and you install SmartCenter Release 9 to a different directory on your system, SmartCenter uninstalls the previous version of SmartCenter. To restore any lost folders and drawers, as well as any customized features, you must edit your Windows 95 registry. 1. Follow the first seven steps in the procedure in the previous section, "Upgrading from SmartCenter 97." 2. Open smartctrsc98rg0.reg in an editor, for instance Notepad. 3. Change every instance of your old path for SmartCenter to your new path for SmartCenter. For example, replace \LOTUS\SMRTCTR\ with \LOTUSR9\SMRTCTR\. 4. Save and close your updated smartctrsc98rg0.reg file. 5 In Windows Explorer, double-click the smartctrsc98rg0.reg file. A message appears that tells you that you have successfully updated the registry. Click OK. 6. Move all the files from your old \WORK\SMRTCTR\ folder to your new \WORK\SMRTCTR\ folder. After you complete these steps, you can restart SmartCenter. Any customization that you added to your previous version of SmartCenter should be restored. > SmartCenter and Internet Explorer 4.71 If you have Internet Explorer 4.71 installed on your system, you may be unable to type text into edit fields in Internet folders in SmartCenter. You can fix this by upgrading to the version of Internet Explorer that is included in the \Extra\Internet\IExplore\ folder of your SmartSuite CD-ROM. > SmartCenter and Organizer 4.1 The SmartCenter Calendar and Address folders work with the PIM-only version of Organizer 4.1. These folders are not designed to work with Organizer 4.1 if it has been installed with group scheduling capabilities selected. > Running SmartCenter QuickDemos in Multiple Language Versions of SmartSuite When you run the following SmartCenter QuickDemos, the sample files always display in your primary language, regardless of the current language in which SmartSuite is running. * Using a 1-2-3 range to create a Freelance Graphics table * Copying a graphics from Freelance Graphics into Word Pro * Linking a 1-2-3 range to a Word Pro document * Creating an Approach report from data in a 1-2-3 file When you run "Using addresses in Approach for a mass mailing in Word Pro," the Word Pro file, which contains the letter that you are merging addresses into, appears in your primary language. However the .DBF file, which contains the field names and the name and address data, appears in the current language. The current language may not be the same as your primary language. When you run "Using 1-2-3 data to create an Approach database," the .123 file that opens in Approach appears in the current language. In any language except English, the QuickDemo can only run successfully once. Although the .DBF, .ADX, and .APR files that the QuickDemo creates are created with MLC-encoded file names, the QuickDemo only erases the English language versions of the files. Information for Word Pro Users > Default Installation The following features are NOT installed during a default Install of Word Pro: * LotusScript Help files (script, Chart script, and Word Pro script) * International dictionaries, grammar check, and thesaurus * SmartMasters: Set 2 Internet templates, Business Plan templates, and Invoice templates * Text filters: DisplayWrite, DCA/FFT, Text-EMail, Enable, FrameMaker, Legacy, Lotus Manuscript 2.x, MS Windows Write 3.x, MS Word for DOS, Multimate, OfficeWriter, PeachText 5000, Professional Write, Q&A Write, SAMNA Word, and WordStar * Spreadsheet filters: Lotus 1-2-3 for OS/2, MS Excel, and DIF * DataBase filters: ODBC Data * Graphic filters: CGM, Freelance Graphics, HPGL, Lotus PIC, CorelDraw 3, Kodak Photo CD You can install any of these features by selecting "Customize features - manual install" when you install Word Pro. If Word Pro Release 9 is already installed, run Install, select "Customize features - manual install," and choose the features you did not previously install. > To Install over Ami Pro By default, Word Pro is installed into a LOTUS\WORDPRO folder. It will not write over any Ami Pro program files. To make editing of your existing Ami Pro files easier, copy all the style sheets in your \AMIPRO\STYLES folder to the LOTUS\SMASTERS\WORDPRO folder once you complete the installation. > To Install over Word Pro If you have a copy of Word Pro for Windows 3.1 on your system, Install asks whether you want to remove the previous release. If you choose to remove it, Install asks if you want to create a backup copy of your SmartMaster sets. It also asks if you want to move the files in the WORK folder of the previous release to the WORK folder for the new release. Cross-Application Information > Using OLE Services Word Pro OLE services may have been disabled during installation if 8MB of RAM or less were available. If so, you cannot use OLE drag & drop, copy the OLE formats of data to the Clipboard from Word Pro, or embed or link from another application to a Word Pro object via the Clipboard. To enable Word Pro OLE, select File - User Setup - Word Pro Preferences and select "OLE only when required" from the Performance list on the Enable tab. > OLE Automation Approach, Freelance Graphics,1-2-3, Word Pro, and Organizer support OLE Automation. Refer to the LotusScript IDE Help for more information about OLE Automation. Known Issues > Launching PRZ files from cc:Mail You cannot launch a Freelance Graphics presentation from cc:Mail if the .PRZ extension is not entered in the WIN.INI file. (Since Freelance Graphics is a 32-bit program, it automatically installs the .PRZ extension in the Windows 95 Registry file, rather than in the WIN.INI file.) You can manually add the .PRZ extention to the WIN.INI file to allow you to launch presentations from cc:Mail. > ODMA If you are using an ODMA server application, the Save As feature in Freelance Graphics only saves into ODMA in the PRZ format. To save other file types, such as MAS, SYM or DGM into ODMA, you need to save the file in Freelance Graphics first, and then use the ODMA application to import the file into ODMA. > Opening Windows 3.x Files If you open a Windows 3.1 application immediately after you install SmartSuite, an error message may appear when you choose either Open or Save from the File menu, saying that the selected drive cannot be accessed. To make this drive accessible, follow these steps: 1. Click Cancel until all dialog boxes are closed. 2. Minimize the application. 3. Choose Start - Accessories - Notepad from the Windows Taskbar. 4. Switch back to the application. 5. Choose either Open or Save from the File menu. > Printing on an HP LaserJet 4 When you install a driver for an HP LaserJet 4 series printer, the default graphics mode is Vector. If you have problems with your Freelance Graphics output, try changing the graphics mode to Raster. > Turning Off Virtual Memory If you turn off Virtual Memory (to increase speed), you may encounter the following: * On a 20MB machine, Word Pro does not launch (the other Suite applications launch successfully). * On a 32MB machine, you can only load one application at a time (12MB is the minimum RAM requirement for running two Suite applications simultaneously). You need at least 40MB to run multiple Suite applications with Virtual Memory turned off. > Using the TCP Network Driver If TCP is set as a port for Lotus Notes Release 3.x, the SmartSuite application may crash when you attach a file from Approach, Word Pro, or Freelance Graphics to mail. To prevent the application from crashing, disable the TCP port in Notes. > Using Internet Files The .URL files shipped with SmartSuite should work with any Web browser. If you encounter any problems, contact your Internet vendor. > Using TeamMail When the Mobile Screen Show Player Is Not Installed If you use TeamMail to send all or part of the current Freelance Graphics presentation as an attachment, and you select "Include self-extracting player," the Mobile Screen Show Player will not be included unless it is installed on your system. The Mobile Screen Show Player is not installed as part of the default installation. To install the Mobile Screen Show Player, run the installation program, select "Customize features - Manual install," and then select Mobile Screen Show Player. Extra Content on the CD Information in this section applies only if you are installing SmartSuite from a CD-ROM. You can find more information on this extra content in the individual README files for these files in the EXTRA folders. Some of this extra content is available in the Extras dialog box that appears when you install SmartSuite. > 1-2-3 Extra Content >> PC Quote SmartMaster You can track your investments using the PC Quote SmartMaster and 1-2-3. SmartSuite Release 9 has been fully tested and meets Lotus guidelines for Year 2000 readiness, which means that when used in accordance with its associated documentation, SmartSuite Release 9 is capable of correctly processing, providing and/or receiving date data within and between the 20th and 21st centuries, provided that all products (for example, hardware, software and firmware) used with the product properly exchange accurate date data with it. SmartSuite programs use a sliding (rolling) window method to determine the year when you enter only 2 digits. By default, 1-2-3, Approach, Freelance Graphics, and Word Pro use an 80/20 rule for this sliding window -- the window begins 80 years before and ends 19 years after the current year. Organizer uses a 50/50 rule for the sliding window -- the window begins 49 years before and ends 50 years after the current year. The 80/20 default for SmartSuite is set through a single entry in the Windows registry. You can change this registry entry using the sample scripts available on the Web (www.lotus.com/smartsuitedev) and in the \EXTRA\Y2K\ directory on the CD version of Lotus SmartSuite. Caution: Changing the default changes it for all the programs in SmartSuite except Organizer. When writing scripts in the IDE, you may encounter the following limitations: * The IDE browser may crash when you are expanding a method belonging to a class that is defined in an LSX containing a lengthy argument list. * The Inspector doesn't display properties for native classes. * While debugging a script, you cannot step into an %INCLUDEd file or a USEd module. * The Undo command is disabled when you navigate to another section of your script. * When you import a procedure, comments appearing before that procedure are moved to the declarations section. To ensure that the comments remain with the procedure, relocate them within the procedure's definition before importing the procedure into the IDE. * If you change a class to a property, the associated methods become module-level procedures. * Directives are not evaluated until you compile your script. * The Inspector does not display complete information about Variants containing OLE objects. * If you use a ReDim statement within a loop, the Debugger may generate an error when you step to that statement, even though the code runs correctly outside of the Debugger. > LotusScript Language You may encounter the following limitations while programming in the LotusScript language: * If a run-time error occurs within a class constructor's parameter expression, the class constructor halts execution. After the error occurs, the object is deleted, and LotusScript attempts to execute the class destructor. This may cause another run-time error if the destructor relied on the action of the constructor. * Circular structures are not properly destroyed by LotusScript, and the memory for those structures is not released until you end the session. * Errors occurring within a class destructor must be handled within that procedure; error-handling routines outside of the destructor cannot trap errors occurring within the destructor. * For converting between decimal numbers and strings, the conversion functions CDbl and CStr should be used instead of Val and Str. CDbl and CStr honor the Windows setting for the decimal symbol, while Val and Str do not. For example, if the decimal symbol is comma (,), the number one-and-five-tenths is represented as the string "1,5". The code shows how to convert this string to its numeric form: Dim x As Double x = CDbl( "1,5" ) X now contains the decimal value of one-and-five-tenths. The CStr function is used to convert it to a string containing the regional digit separator: Dim y As String Dim y As Double x = 1.5 y = CStr( X ) results in y containing the string "1,5" (again assuming the specified decimal symbol is the comma). Note: Although CDbl will always work, you may want to use CSng or CCur instead, depending on the data type you want to result, or the magnitude of the number being converted. This is especially important for international users. * The UBound function sometimes returns incorrect data when used with a dynamic array that is passed as an argument to a procedure. > Win16/Win32 Differences * On Win32, ChDir "C:" and ChDir " " do nothing. On Win16 they generate the error "Path not found." * On Win32, you can use Name to rename a file using the same name (Name myFile As myFile). On Win16 this generates the error "Permission denied." * On Win32, ChDrive "A:" with no disk in the drive generates the error "Device unavailable". On Win 16, it does nothing. > Integrated Development Environment (Аиw s5o%k3g╢c╥` \( Y\UДRZN ZЕx!t;q6mai┌eщaЮ]╞Z▓V╧S7O 7;w*sJoНk┤gХ"c╝"`!$\D$Yю&U'RВ'N В'Н'wЪ(sа(o╓-kь-h+/dF/`0\#0X%0TK0Q63M 63V3wX3sУ3p╥4l√4iТ5e▓5a┤5]▀5ZA7VC7Rm7N m7o7wЗ7tЭ;pв;l?<hn<er=a{=]>YT>VL?R^?N ^?_AwvAsкBo└BkhCgjCcЙC`XF\~FYЗGUиGQкGM кG╬GxЖKtдKq6MmWMiYMe0Qa2Q]UQYWQUjQR√QN √QRxВWtгWqКZm╬Zi▌\e ]a'^]г^Yi`U├aQ┼aM ┼aяaxёatcppe√qa r^▒rZ┐rV┴rRцrO цrrtwztt░up═um╫wiўwf┬xbрx_Щz[╣zXо{T╞{Q ╞{P|wЦ|tВ~pЫ~l▀hЇeЎaА][АYfАU|АQТАM ТАБwБs+БpRБlКДhХДdпД`╤Д]ЁДYЪЖUгЖQ║ЖM ║Ж╙ЖxЄЖtoЗpzЗlУЗh│ЗdИ`И\6ИXLИTЙP&ЙL &ЙAЙwbЙs8КoCКk[КgОКcQЛ_VЛ[╔ЛW╘ЛSъЛO·ЛK ·ЛММwХМs▒Мo╦Мl┌Мh~НdЙН`ЬН\╖НXПT! D  z  ┬     /   </ ^   И   Н   ╬   ▄   !   /   t   y   л   ╖   ь   °   -   2   e   q   к   ╢   я   <я Ї   +   7   r   ~   ╣   ╛         (   '  Z  \  Д  X  Z  Е  Ц      <    !  ;  m  o  н  ╪  F    4  6  a  w  ╪  ┌  щ  R  T  a  <ar  Ь  Ю  ╞  И  н  п  ї  °    Q  j  }  ░  ▓  ╧  5  7  ў  ∙  <∙°  (  *  L  K  ┐  ┴  Л  Н  ╢  Ю  т  ф  ч  щ  ш   з!  й!  У"  Х"  <Х"╝"  ┘#  $  !$  D$  %  %  У%  Х%  ┐%  ш%  №%  &  J&  ^&  ┬&  ь&  ю&  '  А'  <А'В'  Н'  П'  К(  Ъ(  Ь(  )  )  Ч)  Щ)  Ж*  И*  З+  ┐+  ┴+  ╒,  ╫,  Q-  ╘-  ╓-  <╓-ь-  B.  D.  М.  ┤.  ╙.  ь.  /  )/  +/  F/  H/  0  0  #0  %0  K0  R1  ╓1  ╪1  <╪1+2  -2  А2  В2  ╧2  ╤2  43  63  V3  X3  У3  o4  б4  г4  ╨4  ╥4  √4  Р5  Т5  ▓5  <▓5┤5  ▀5  56  Н6  A7  C7  m7  o7  З7  ц7  ш7  8  X8  9  Т9  в9  ▌9  ∙9  :  6:  <6:V:  i:  k:  q;  Ы;  Э;  =<  ?<  n<  ╕<  Д=  >  >  T>  J?  L?  ^?  З?  Й?  к?  <к?х?  .@  g@  г@  ╥@  ▀@  ы@  A  /A  ]A  _A  vA  дA  жA  иB  кB  └B  эB  яB  C  <ChC  jC  ЙC  2D  4D  ╬D  E  mE  ∙E  EF  VF  XF  ~F  ЕG  ЗG  иG  кG  ╬G  ╟H   I  < I I   J  J  !J  ╬J  ╤J  ДK  ЖK  дK  гL  4M  6M  WM  YM  ▓N  ┤N  :O  p  Ыp  №p  Sq  ▓q  ∙q  √q   r  пr  ▒r  ┐r  ┴r  цr  хs  pt  rt  zt  Рu  оu  <оu░u  ═u  ╤v  ╪v  ┌v  w  2w  xw  Яw  ╒w  ╫w  ўw  └x  ┬x  рx  6y  8y  Эy  :z  б  ┘б  █б  lв  <lвГв  Ев  Ъв  г  .г  0г  2г  Wг  "д  $д  >д  @д  ]д  ╬д  юд  Ёд  Єд  е  >е  {е  <{е╡е  Ёе  Єе  ж  ж  &ж  Юж  аж  ъж  3з  Шз  Ъз  Ли  Ни  Пи  ▓и  *й  ,й  Хй  ¤й  <¤йbк  dк  Vл  Xл  Zл  Жл  uм  wм  ╞м  ╚м  [н  Юн  ўн  Oо  Nп  Vп  ╕п  ·п  [░  ▒  <▒▒  )▒  Е▒  З▒  В▓  ╠▓  `│  ┤  ь┤  ╡  ╡  ╝╡  ╛╡  ╘╡  ╓╡  ю╡  Ё╡  М╢  О╢  д╢  <д╢║╢  ╝╢  ╩╢  ▐╢  р╢  K╖  M╖  8╕  :╕  ┬╕  ─╕  ▀╕  G╣  ▌╣  Z║  \║  Ё╡  М╢  О╢  д╢  <Ы╖─# .h7&A 2N gX qa ┌l ww╥АIЛ░Ьзр▓'  А'  < Arial  П'  К(  Ъ(  Ь(  )  )  Ч)  Щ)  Ж*  И*  З+  ┐+  ┴+  ╒,  ╫,  Q-  ╘-  ╓-  <
