Configuration Management and Web
Page Configuration
Each team will be given two directories: one in which to place all project
artifacts on the web, and another for software development and software
releases to the client.
The configuration manager's duties are:
- Configuration Management
- Place all documents
and software under version and access control, using use a configuration
management tool if appropriate
- Allow only authorized
team members access to certain project artifacts
- Back up all project
files
- Web Site
- Publish and update the
main project page
- Post new documents to
the project web directory
- Archive and make
available historical documents
- Review Configuration
- Review project
artifacts to be sure that their links work
- Resist every
temptation to rework a document (you may not make document changes for
another team member; everyone is responsible for their own documents)
- Inform team members of
inappropriate submissions
- Project Artifacts
- Write the Configuration
Management Plan and updated regularly as necessary
- FTP Site
- Use the project's FTP
Site for submissions
- Configuration Checks
- Maintain a neat and
organized directory structure
- Be ready for checks to
be made by the project supervisor at any time during the semester
The following templates should be used.
If any section of any form is not applicable, leave the
section and replace the contents with "Not Applicable" along with the
reason the section is not applicable.
Advice: Because the configuration manager's job can be time
consuming, keep things as simple as possible. Create directories labeled
by role out on the ftp site where team members submit their work for
posting. When an item is posted, delete it from the ftp directory.
Be vigilant in checking the ftp site two or more times daily for items to post.
