Pi Kappa Alpha Providing Holiday Portraits for People in Need

Rose-Hulman's Iota Delta chapter of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity is planning to provide free color portrait photographs to help local people and families in need celebrate the holiday season, and seek employment opportunities for the new year.

Help-Portrait: Terre Haute will be Saturday, December 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lighthouse Mission, located at 1450 Wabash Ave. in Terre Haute. Photographs will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.

Free portraits will be provided on site for families and individuals who would like a holiday picture or a professional portrait to find jobs with prospective employers.

"Our members are very excited about helping those in need by providing photographs that can have lasting memories for these people and their families, while also being useful in their job searches," said event coordinator Ian Fong, a senior member of Pi Kappa Alpha chapter leadership. "Hair and make-up stylists will be available to help people look nice for their picture."

Pi Kappa Alpha needs to raise $300 to provide the photographs, frames, food, and, most importantly, hope to those involved in the project. Donations can be made online at https://www.purecharity.com/helpportrait-terrehaute or by contacting Fong at fongil[at]rose-hulman[dot]edu.

Help-Portrait is a worldwide movement of photographers and volunteers that has provided more than 320,000 portraits in 67 countries.
