Chemical Transformations in Natural and Engineered Aquatic Systems

• Investigate the capability of environmental processes in natural waters to influence the impact of non-point source contamination on the environment.
• Investigate the impact of NOM in affecting processes in engineered systems such as water and wastewater treatment facilities, engineered wetlands, and industrial processes.

Photochemical transformation of Persistent Organic Pollutants in Polar Regions

• Evaluate the susceptibility of a given compound to degrade in polar regions via photochemical mechanisms and identify geochemical conditions that facilitate the process.
