On the eighteenth day of February in the year 2009, a challenge was presented to The Aviators: Nobie Redmon, Morgan Lopez, Nolan Roberts, Kevin Faul. The Aviators were to create a  Matlab program that would calculate the variables needed to fire a projectile from a cannon, and hit a target. From this Matlab program, they would then create a program in Working Model to confirm trial results.

Click the links above for more detail.

This is a simplified representation of the set-up for the Challenge. Shown on the left is the air cannon apparatus. It will be propped up on blocks of differing heights (y1 and y2) and will fire a projectile at the target (circle at the top right). This setup is shown in more detail on the Apparatus
page.

As mentioned, we used a Matlab program as well as a model made in Working Model to compute our "solution". And in the end, our programs worked in concordance, though we had very interesting Results
. These files can be found in the Appendices section.
