Homework:

Homework problems will be assigned in class at which time the due date will be given (or see below under Assignments). Please show all of your work. Please write only on one side of the paper. You are encouraged to discuss the homework with your colleagues, however, you are required to prepare your own solutions.

Exams:

There will be a take-home mid-term exam and a comprehensive oral final exam

Laboratory:

There will be about eight laboratories with this course.  Each student is responsible for turning in one memo-format lab report for each lab.  In addition, each lab group is responsible for maintaining a lab notebook which is to be a detailed description about what was done in the lab.  This lab notebook is to be turned in at the end of the term.  The notebook will be graded and will have a maximum point value equal to one lab report (100 points).

Grades:

The final grade will be determined as follows:

Homework – 30%

Exams – 40%

Laboratory – 30%
