Best Session Presentation, Mechanics Division, 2001 ASEE Annual Conference, 2001

I was awarded this for the best presentation in the Innovating Teaching in Mechanics session of the 2001 ASEE Annual Conference.  The paper was called "The Los Alamos National Laboratory Dynamics Summer School - a Mechanics Motivator."

Board of Trustees Outstanding Scholar Award, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, 2001

Each year at graduation the Board of Trustees selects one faculty member to receive this award.

Dean’s Outstanding Teacher Award, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, 2000

Each year at graduation the Dean of the Faculty selects one faculty member to receive this award.

Best Session Presentation, ASEE Mechanics Division , 2000

I was awarded this for the best presentation in the “Integrating the Mechanics Curriculum” session of the 2000 ASEE Annual Conference. The paper was called "Dynamics Evolution - Chance or Design."

Triangle Fraternity's Teacher of the Year Award, 1994.

Each year Triangle recognizes one teacher for their "outstanding contributions to Rose-Hulman."

Ralph R. Teetor Educational Award, February, 1993

This award was given by SAE to 22 engineering faculty in the nation. The award is given to "outstanding young engineering educators". The criteria for selection were significant contributions to teaching, research and student development.

Paper Award for the 1993 ASEE IL-IN Section Conference, March, 1993.
ASME Aerospace Division Award for "the outstanding paper presented at the 30th Structures, Structural Dynamics and Materials Conference", April 1990.

This award was for presenting an outstanding paper at the 30th AIAA/ASME/ASCE/AHS/ASC Structures, Structural Dynamics, and Materials Conference. The award certificate reads "... for the paper 'A Numerical Study of Vibration Localization in Disordered Cyclic Structures' which was judged an outstanding contribution to the engineering profession ...." There were approximately 250 papers presented at the conference.

National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship, August 1985 - July 1988.

I received an NSF graduate fellowship to attend graduate school at Princeton University. I was also selected to appear in the NSF booklet "Profiles in Excellence" that contained biographies of 63 NSF Graduate Fellowship recipients and was used to promote the program.

Texas Tech Ex-Students Association Award for being the highest ranking graduate, May 1985.
ARCS Scholarship (Achievement Rewards for College Scientists) 1984-85.
Membership in honor societies: Pi Tau Sigma, Tau Beta Pi, Phi Kappa Phi.
