COURSE NOTEBOOK:

A course notebook is an organized collection of personal work you have done for a course. The course notebook should consist of a three-ring loose-leaf binder that contains:
all notes and handouts,
all homework sets,
all quizzes, objectives, and examinations,
reflections and thoughts about your progress in the course (comments should explicitly address your strategies and methods for improving your performance), and
any extra work that you do to learn the material and prepare for tests.

The course notebook will be reviewed and/or collected during examinations to assess your progress. The course notebook grade will be based on

your master list of assignments and record of completed activities,
neatness and explicit organization,
thoroughness in collecting all class materials,
analysis of your performance and achievement, and
extra work such as reworking or correcting homework and exams.

More specific requirements for the notebooks will be explained as the quarter progresses.

We want you to succeed and believe that maintaining a course notebook will help you this quarter and in the future. The purpose of having you maintain a course notebook is to

save time in searching for reference materials,
organize class materials for study periods and review,
document ALL of the learning activities and effort you expend to meet the course objectives, and
provide an opportunity for you to monitor and evaluate your progress so that you can correct any deficiencies.
