COURSE EXPECTATIONS:

Work Load: This is a four-credit course. The work load for this course should average out to 8 to 12 hours a week outside of class. This time should be spent reading the text and notes, working problems, discussing material with your colleagues, and thinking about the material in this course.
Reading Assignments: You are expected to complete the reading assignments before class. In-class activities will often assume that you are familiar with the material assigned.
Homework Problem Guidelines:
Homework is assigned daily but collected as a set on the dates indicated. Typically you should expect to work on the homework following the class period in which it is assigned.
Late homework will not be accepted except for medical reasons or prior arrangements with the instructor.
Homework assignments will be collected at the beginning of the class period on the days indicated in the schedule.
Each homework set should consists of a cover page followed by the homework problems arranged in the order they were assigned. A sample cover page will be provided.
Put your name and box number in the top right corner of each page.
Use only one side of each page and start each problem on a new page.
Identify each problem using the correct assignment number.
Each solution must be both legible and coherent.
Clearly identify final answers and important intermediate answers.
All problems must be worked on standard engineering problem paper.
Problems must be prepared using the problem solving format discussed in the notes. Points will be taken off if this format is not followed.
Written Assignments: All memos and reports should conform to the standards presented in the RH/FC Sophomore Engineering Curriculum Writing Guide. The Guide will be distributed in class.
Attendance: Excused absences should be arranged in advance. The instructor reserves the right to reduce your final course grade by one letter grade for every four unexcused absences. Eight or more absences excused or unexcused may result in your failing the course.
Final Exam: The final exam will be comprehensive and somewhat harder than the mid-term exams; however, additional time will be provided. Every student is expected to be available during the Final Exam Period scheduled by the Registrar.
