Roller Coaster Videos

This page allows you to see my virtual rides in action with footage captured using fraps and edited by me. You will recognize most of the coasters on here if you have browsed through the galleries on my main page. The primary focus of these videos is to make my rides more accessible to those who do not own NoLimits and have no need to purchase it. They began as a way to allow the "general public," such as my girlfriend, to test-ride my attractions and give me their valuable feedback; therefore they are done in whatever manner I feel is best to present the ride to enthusiasts and laymen alike. The quality has been scaled down from the originals since they are hosted on the internet, but they are fun nonetheless. The rides are listed in reverse chronological order (i.e. most recent first) and include brief descriptions. Enjoy!

NOTE: I believe you'll need to have flash player to view these embedded videos.

CCI Wooden Coaster

This ride was designed towards completing an online competition, but it exhibits a lot of the great features of a wooden roller coaster: tons of airtime and lateral forces. Though under 100 feet tall, this ride rips through its 3400-foot-long circuit at an atonishing pace!

Double Feature

I finished these two rides around the same time, so they come packaged in a single video. Pyroclastic Flow is a concept B&M hyper coaster, nearly 6000 feet in length and over 200 feet tall. It features tons of airtime and many interesting turns. On the opposite end of the spectrum is the Westview Park Screamer, which was inspired by Cornball Express at Indiana Beach. It runs a single train around its 2163-foot-long circuit but definitely packs a punch.

Vertical Impulse Coaster

My first new ride of the 2007-2008 school year, this is a concept Intamin impulse coaster, flinging riders 200 feet straight up into the air at speeds exceeding 70 mph. The train then goes through most of the track backwards first, navigating a helix, zero-g roll, vertical loop and overbank.

Ravine Flyer II

A recreation of the Gravity Group design for Waldameer Park for the 2008 season that is currently under construction. This video has been featured in the local TV news and newspaper in Erie, PA.

Terrain Concept Ride

The design of this ride was an attempt to make an "out and back" layout as disorienting as possible, and it definitely worked.

Coaster Compilation (4 rides)

4 rides in one; my most popular video online with over 10,000 net views. This compilation features the following rides:
* A classic Arrow looper
* A John Allen-inspired racer
* A compact Intamin hyper coaster
* A GCII wooden twister

Enjoy!

Concept Wooden Twister

While the setting and support structures may be unrealistic, this is a fun little ride which I designed to prove that height and length never tell the whole story!

Concept Maurer Sohne Skyloop

This is an attempt to improve upon the design of Maurer Sohne's new X-Flight-type rides by allowing multiple trains for capacity and new elements for greater re-rideability. The increases in overall cost would be minimal.

Terrain Concept Ride

Big, tough, and mean, this ride is. It becomes difficult at times to catch your breath along its 6000-foot-long circuit.

Fantasy Design

This ride is the definition of a quick project, being completed from scratch in one day with about 5 hours' work. The concept is simply that of an Intamin "wooden" coaster. Enjoy.

Vekoma Motorbike Coaster

This was my terrain-driven design for a Vekoma motorbike ride, which is fun for all ages but still a blast to ride. My focus here was on seamlessly smooth trackwork and wide market appeal.

Euro-Fighter Contest Entry

A contest ride where I had to construct a ride in an extremely tight space. Not one of my better attempts at a coaster, but I did learn a lot from my mistakes!

Wooden Out-and-Back

One of my earlier rides, but still a personal favorite. This CCI-style out-and-back offers lots of airtime and lats in a surpisingly fun layout.

Wooden Twister

My first ride of the 2006-2007 school year, this ride was mostly done to attempt several new mathematical formulas for ride element creation. The layout as a whole isn't amazing, but some of the things I developed through making this ride laid the groundwork for everything else on this page.
