Committees for the Young Alumni Council
Trips
This committee plans and coordinates the annual trip for graduates of the last decade. Past trips include Ireland and Spain, while this year's trip is to the Bolongo Bay Beach Resort at St. Thomas from April 21 - 28, 2007.
Honors and Awards
This committee handles the Distinguished Young Alumni Award, which is presented every year at homecoming. The committee works with the Alumni Affairs Office to collect nominations, solicit nominee information and select several finalists. The entire Young Alumni Council votes for the recipients of the award.
Homecoming
This committee works with the Alumni Affairs Office to plan and coordinate activities for homecoming, including the GOLD alumni party and corn hole (new for this year).
Events / Service Projects
This committee works with alumni to plan young alumni events in their hometown. There have been young alumni events in Indianapolis, Terre Haute, Chicago, Detroit, Dayton / Cincinnati and Washington DC. We are always hearing from young alumni who do not live in the midwest and want to coordinate an event in their hometown. This committee also plans service events, such as Habitat for Humanity and Indianapolis Day of Caring with the United Way.
Nominations
This committee handles nominations for new members to the Young Alumni Council. The committee works with the Alumni Affairs Office to solicit self-nominations from young alumni, which is then used to select a slate of new members so that we have at least two members from each class of the last decade. The entire Young Alumni Council votes on the slate.
